I've seen this answered a few times but I have forgotten.
What is the minimum time you can have left on your passport when renewing retirement visa.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To renew your retirement visa in Thailand, your passport must have a minimum validity of at least one year. If your passport has less than a year remaining, the new extension will only be valid until your passport expires. After obtaining a new passport, you will need to apply for a completely new yearly extension.

The way it works is IF you are applying for a new yearly extension BUT you don't have a year left on your passport you only get the new extension until your passport expires. ๐ฎ
When that runs out (and after you've gotten a new passport) you apply for a totally NEW yearly extension again.
