TLDR : Answer Summary
The validity of your passport is crucial when applying for an extension of your O retirement visa in Thailand. If your passport expires before the next yearly extension is due, the extension will only be valid until the passport's expiration date. This means that if you are facing delays in obtaining a new passport, you should address this promptly to avoid issues with your visa extension.
