TLDR : Answer Summary
The user attempted to apply for a 90-day visa but was only offered a 60-day visa during their visit to Bangkok immigration. They were informed that they could apply for a 30-day extension thereafter but would need a different visa after that period. The user is seeking advice on the best visa option available for an additional 30-day stay before returning home.

When and on what visa/exempt did you enter Thailand? What's your extension history? What is the purpose you are applying for an extension for?

Without that information, you may not get any correct information...

You entered on visa-exempt and you are eligible to apply for an extension being unable to travel due to the Covid situation. Go to the local immigration office near to when your current stamp finish.

I heard that the Covid extension expired on the 25 January and is no longer available

, you were told wrong

People entered on a Tourists visa or visa-exempt scheme are eligible to apply for a Covid extension until March 25.

Non-immigrant type visa/extension holders are not eligible anymore though.

what is a non immigrant type visa as I am confused

I have already phone the hot line 1178 he informed me that Covid extension Finished on the 25th January

What he said was so complicating

@Paul ********
, those are visa/extension based on the reasons of education, working, retirement, etc.

I can bet there was a 'lost in translation' part in your conversation with them.

You entered Thailand on a visa-exempt scheme, you can apply for a Covid extension.

can I please ask....can one still apply for the extension up to 25 March, so that one can leave 24 May?

@Dianne *********
People entered on a tourist visa or visa-exempt scheme have the chance to apply for Covid extension until 25 March. It's not the extension itself's expiry date.

@Ellie ******
one more question....does this apply if we arrive in Thailand mid Feb. ? We can do our free 30 days, and then get the covid extention, which we will apply for before mid March?

Why are you asking about a 60 day covid extension when you haven't even arrived here yet?

By the time you get here visa exempt then take the ONE 30 day regular extension (which isn't FREE but is for 1900baht) the current covid program will be lo

ow about following Robert Lagas' excellent advice and apply for a single entry tourist visa BEFORE you wing your way here so when you show up you'll get stamped in for 60 days and can extend that once for 30 more days for 1900baht after you're here?

Apply for a visa before you make your way into Thailand that fits the length of stay.

Do not plan using a program made for people unable to travel.

, You have to apply for a standard 30days extension first.
