TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the ongoing situation regarding visa requirements for Thai citizens wishing to travel to the UK. It mentions a past meeting between David Cameron and the Thai government but highlights that there has been no progress on this issue, with various comments noting political obstacles and the perception that the UK is unlikely to grant visa-free travel for Thai citizens due to economic classifications. Additionally, discussions about Thai holiday options in the Schengen area are also touched upon.

Apparently when the conservative administration with boris was in charge the foreign office wanted the change to improve relations but the home office blocked it. No discussions atm about this but apparently the Schengen area is in discussion with the Thai government about Thais being able to holiday in that area.

I've been waiting myself for this to happen , typical of politicians making false promises, how are we suppose to trust them when they never honour what they say. yeah I bet he got his trade deal to look good He just doesn't return his own promises or get the new foreign secretary to continue and honour it

The meeting wasn't just about immigration. It was about a "Roadmap" for a strategic partnership. Both countries agreed a general direction of travel, but there is no timetable. The major block will likely be Thailand reducing import duties on UK goods. Thailand has a similar roadmap with the EU, and probably the EU does a lot more trade with Thailand.
utter utter nonsense. There treatment is literally and provably as Peter describes and is overwhelmingly more than the homeless, pensioners or military veterans get in the UK. Your niave ignorance is stunning
count my blessings? My mum assaulted and paralysied in care of the council. Forced to pay £55,000 for care. My family abused by council, police and MP. No human rights lawyers to fight for her. Illegal immigration is criminal yet people like you back them and not my mum
Fleeing France? Fleeing Greece? Give us a break. They are economic migrants and nearly all men. You people and your blindness to reality is destroying this country.
young men fleeing many safe havens which have rejected them. There is not a single shred of evidence you can show me that suggests France or Belgium are persecuting them
what are they fleeing? If they were so affraid the first safe county would be sufficient. Yes the people smugglers are breaking bathroom law, so are the illegals. Most, not all, are fleeing due economic reasons, nothing else.
You need to appeal the CHC decision. If your mum is in care because of being paralysed, then that is a health need not social need. CHC is based on NHS principles; if you need medical care, you will get it, in a non-NHS setting, which could be a nursing home, or your own home. Your mother probably has medical needs related to pressure sores, colostomy issue and pain medication. Depending on her history, she may been a turn every 2-4 hours. My mother is in a nursing home, fully funded by the NHS, due to her medical needs (needs turns, and now can no longer handle herself the controled drugs due to complications due to paraplegia).
Thanks but that did not work. Get the feeling that two or three individual deliberately hampered my concerns. Cannot say much as they have already breach my article 8 rights.
That's not how a CHC review works. There are shysters out there claiming you need a lawyer. You do not. You have to be very clear abouts needs. The Reviewers themselves have no interest in pass, fail. I have found them to be professional experienced nurses. They make recommendations to the panel, who generally follow their lead. The social workers push people into it, but then don't understand the system. You make sure everything is minuted and you sign off the reviews. And you are wrong to accuse people, who don't know you, of not backing your mum because they have a different view on refugees. Do you, in general, support the work of doctors and nurses?

Won't be happening unfortunately. Making it easier for foreigners to enter the UK is not a vote winner.
thanks for that. But I thought that I'd heard that they had signed documents stating it would be started. I know obviously David Cameron isn't in government anymore as he was conservative. But if something has been started, labour or whoever will have to continue it!
