TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the Covid vaccine process in Thailand, including the current status of vaccination rollout and required documentation. Commenters express uncertainty, emphasizing that official announcements about the vaccine process have not been made. It is mentioned that the vaccine might not be mandatory, but it could influence quarantine requirements, especially for travelers from different countries. The need for clarity around the documentation and practicalities of getting vaccinated as an expat in Thailand is highlighted.

required - NO. Unlikely any country will require it as such. For entry into the country, starting next month you can get 3 days off your quarantine but is it worth it? Don't take the risk.

@Paul ******
the whole vaccine passport thing is really just a media job to make people scared of being left behind if they dont take it, it's barely thought through
Max ********
@Paul ******
I reckon desperate tourist nations like spain and greece will have these easier requirements, but China for example said that despite just releasing a vaccine passport they wont make it easier to go there for vaccinated people, because they know it's not as foolproof as people think
Ruth *******
This is precisely why I'm not returning until I'm vaccinated :-(. I doubt I could get vaccinated for quite some time in Thailand
Edna *******
I’m amused at the recent quarantine update. The fine print says, vaccinated within three months of travel???? What the heck. I’ve had my vaccine two weeks ago,and want to travel to Thailand October- December. Now what? Maybe after June I would have to quarantine for 15 days? What are they trying to do, jamb all vaccinated travelers into three month periods?
Paul *******
Cathy Odgers Keep believing that. Thousands of Thai and Burmese protestors who have not distanced and half of whom (especially the Thai ones) not even wearing masks and no one is dying or even getting sick.

I mean, what kind of disease is this, that you need to a test to know whether you've got it?
Max ********
@Paul ******
funny how they can stop microscopic covid but not all these mosquitos flying about😂
Paul *******
Max Martin Exactly.
Paul *******
@Edna ******
Yes. That's the plan worldwide. Some doctors have suggested a new vaccine will be needed for EVERY overseas trip.
Janet **********
Just got my first shot. Get second in April. Plan to get another of whichever is best for variants before I fly back in the fall.
Max ********
@Edna ******
it's because your vaccine doesnt last forever! The effect wears off, stop whining and just get your boosters every 3 months, otherwise your vaccine is useless, do you actually want to keep people safe?, I'm not amused by the announcement at all, I'm amused by people like you who are begging for these vaccine passports but dont even understand vaccines😂
Ruth *******
@Edna ******
I'm guessing it's due to concerns about variants, but that's a guess.

Cathy in the plan there is still going to be a quarantine for those vaccinated, it's just a bit shorter. I'm skeptical this is going to happen next month, but it is likely going to happen at some point, I'd suspect before the whole country is vaccinated.

Vaccinated foreigners are much less likely to have it in the first place- and there will still be the 7 day quarantine minimum, and precautions, It's not like it's going to be straight back to millions of tourists and no restrictions, it will still be a very small number willing to put up with even 7 days.
Paul *******
@Ivan ***********
It could happen overnight if this all starts to unravel. Anyway, the "carrot" right now is to encourage uptake of the vaccine by offering a shorter quarantine period. However, even those not taking the vaccine will be afforded a shorter quarantine, while anyone coming from Africa will still be required to do the 14 day quarantine, thus meaning you'd be foolish to get the shot if arriving from there, because it's useless and makes no difference.
Edna *******
@Paul ******
an attempt to protect yourself and others is never useless. Get the shot. Seems like many people around the world don’t get what herd immunity is. Variants would be considerably less when the majority are vaccinated. I personally believe in science . A booster is being developed as we speak.
Max ********
@Edna ******
you seem "amused" by the science rather than one who believes in it, what's your problem with getting every 3 months if you believe in it?
Edna *******
@Max *******
not necessary, they will adjust as time goes on. I had my vaccine, won’t take it again fir a year. Thailand says it expires in three months or you can’t fly in. Well, let’s see how that works for them. Just about as well as all their schemes. Another thought, what if you flew in on the last 2-3 weeks of the 3 month period and had a 90 day visa? Then what, make you get another jab with a different vaccine ? Or none at all. Of course I’m going to book a flight and hotel at the precise right time. It’s impossible in addition to all the other hoops.
Max ********
@Edna ******
sorry to burst your bubble but the scientists who you trust so much say differently, this is already the case in israel and some of the US vaccine freedoms are time limited as well, so not only thailand says this
Edna *******
@Max *******
the burst is, most of us can’t come or won’t. It just can’t be coordinated for the mass tourists needed. None of it is proven yet.
Paul *******
Edna Lynch Except the vaccine doesn't protect. It does however contribute immensely to the bank accounts of the pharmaceutical industry.
Ivan ************
They may change or extend it by then, when there is more data on how long immunity lasts, etc. Right now, basically everyone has been vaccinated within three months.
Carlo **********
Free in the uk,i believe its £75 there.
Edna *******
@Carlo *********
all free in the US too. We don’t want to miss anyone that wants to be vaccinated over money, or be discouraged in any way. Achieving herd immunity is the goal. The tier program is based on different groups of people first. Such as the elderly, nurses, doctors all in the healthcare field and so on. The US will begin mass jabs soon. It takes a massive amount of planning and organizing. Initial production, distribution and people to administer the jabs. Many areas are remote, others have no transportation. All this often takes implications as we go. After all who in this world has ever dealt with a pandemic of this magnitude? Get your shot as soon as it’s available to you. Boosters may be needed in the future, don’t we do that with the flu vaccine?

so means we are suppose to buy our own vaccine?

@Sweetie ************
Over there,i believe so.

nothings been announced but what visa are you on.

Vaccination in Thailand is not estimated to be complete until 2022
Kate ************
I’m from South Africa and they have only given the health care workers the Covid-19 vaccine. Does that means I would have to quarantine for 14 days then?
Bobby ********
Kate Retouching. I understand South Africans won't be included in the reduced quarantine plan to begin with.
Er *****
@Kate ***********
just dont take the vaccine and go for 14 days. What is the problem? If u take the vaccne u have to do the asq also anyway.
Paul *******
@Er ****
It's 10 days for those who don't take the vaccine or 14 vaccine or not for African arrivals.

@Kate ***********
are u health care worker? I guess if u have vaccine already you will only need to quarantine 7 days I guess !
Ulrik *********
@Sweetie ************
wrong guess I'm afraid. Shorter quarantine is just a proposal, and south africans are not included in the proposal anyway.
Michael ********
Its all going to depend upon your age profession etc etc.

Long term residents have also been told they can get.(Marriage and retirement)

Not sure about the people on extensions or tourists or language/muay thai visas

Correct. The ones getting it, should be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. Becoming a guinea pig for Big Tech is a dangerous thing.

if you say that the false theories are incorrect, you have really been sleeping this year. But go ahead, go insert shit in your body what only prevents you to the symptoms and not to the virus itself.
Frédéric ******************
@Er ****
name me a single vaccine that prevents you against a virus itself?

I guess you simply don't know what a vaccine is.
Edna *******
@Frédéric ****************
do your research, well over 50m people have been vaccinated in the US, they all can’t be wrong.
Frédéric ******************
@Edna ******
wrong person. Er Man said it's useless, not me. I'll be vaccinated as soon as my government allows me to.
Edna *******
@Frédéric ****************
sorry man, good for you. Hopefully ER man will see it.

@Er ****
hahaha I'm being vaccinated on Monday. Looking forward to it.
