What health insurance options should I consider while spending a year in Thailand on a DTV?

I've been approved for a DTV and already have yearly travel insurance but which has minimal cover and never been claimed on etc.

What's the best option here for spending the year in Thailand as a very healthy UK male in his 50's?

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around health insurance options for a UK male in his 50s planning to spend a year in Thailand on a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV). While he currently holds minimal travel insurance, it's suggested that he consider comprehensive health insurance due to varying coverage needs. Several recommendations were provided, including AXA Thailand and insurance agents offering personalized assistance. There's also mention of the significance of a good insurance broker, as they can efficiently address issues that may arise with payment and claims. InsureandGo was noted for its reliability in claims, although some policies may limit overseas duration. Overall, it's advised to evaluate coverage based on health, travel habits, and insurance needs.

It depends on how you use your DTV, most travel insurances will work for up to 90 days away from your home country.

I have used InsureandGo for many years. Claimed once for a tooth 🦷 and they paid immediately- (it was only a few hundred quid). At the moment I use the yearly policy with is around £220 for the highest level of cover. But it is only valid I think for 60 days out of the uk in one go. This is ok for me as I travel backwards and towards a lot (clock resets) I believe they do yearly policies - never checked how much the are. Ps I’m not worried about me - it’s the accidents, taxi drivers etc running me over! And you’re “very healthy” until the time you are not!

Another to consider is Genki.

AXA is probably the most popular one for DTV holders.

Depends what your looking for, if you are healthy you might just stick with your travel insurance but be aware it won't cover general health issues. If you want health insurance then shop around, I find AIA very good but the broker is more important than the company in my view. A good broker will look after you, they can solve all kinds of problems, just as an example I was sitting for hours in a hospital waiting for them to resolve payment with my insurer, I eventually got fed up called my broker passed him over to the hospital and everything was resolved in 10 minutes

My wife can assist with that. There are numerous options from AXA Thailand for every budget.

The DTV does NOT “require “ insurance so you can choose any variety of coverage you like.
