Hey all.

I am coming up to the end of my first year on a work permit. I am curious about the renewal process or do I have to apply again? Which means I need to apply a Non-B again also?

Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The renewal process for a Thailand work permit requires applying again with similar documents as the original application, updated to reflect current company details. Users mentioned that after finishing their first year, they could apply for an extension or renewal at the location where the work permit was originally issued. The renewal may also be eligible for a two-year extension with less documentation. However, it’s important to check with your employer regarding specific requirements, especially for different job roles like teachers versus company directors.

The form I was given to use is WP.5 " Application for a Renewal of a Work Permit under Section 23" ... Actually this form did not seem to be some kind of new issue.. Butcquite honestly I don't know for sure either way.

I just finished my 1st. Year Work Permit and applied for the second year 5 days ago. Which actually will be awarded as a two year WP good until September 2020.

The new form is called a Renewal and has an option for 2 years... @ 3000 baht per year. The amount of documentation is somewhat abbreviated (fewer documents).

Now - I don't know if this will apply to everyone as my status is Share Holder Director of my own Thai Registered Company.

For Foreigns who are company employees, I do not know if this applies.

Ok Joe. Thanks. I am a teacher employed by a Thai company so I doubt that option is available for me

Yes, you apply for a 1 year Extension of your Work Permit at the place where you got it. For your Non B Visa, are you on an actual Visa or on an Extension of Stay?

Fantastic.. thanks for the info! πŸ˜πŸ‘

The Work Permit you got at the Ministry of Labor and that is where you apply for the extension of the Work Permit. Correct, you do not need to leave the country. Just visit Ministry of Labor and Immigration to apply for 1 year Extensions.

Thanks Robert.. ok.. which means I will apply for 1 year extension of stay at Phuket Immigration? So I don't need to go to KL again? (Pardon my stupidity)
Robert *******
It is the first line of the big stamp. If you got it in Phuket than it will be like: Phuket Immigration. Extension of Stay is permitted up to 1 Nov 2018.

Ok. Mine is dated 1st Nov. I'm a little confused as to where I got that Extension of Stay.. when I got my Non-B at Thai Consulate Kuala Lumpur or when I came back to Phuket Immigration for work permit application πŸ€”

Than you have to visit the same office where you got this for a new 1 year Extension of Stay. You can do this from 30 days before the last day of your permitted to stay date. The new year is added so you will not loose days by going early.
