Hey TVA, if a Non Imm B visa (90 day based on teaching) expires does the work permit also expire? And if the holder of the expired Non b switches to another visa (documents not ready for a second Non-Imm b..) does the work permit that’s associated with it become invalidated? can another Non Imm B be applied for during the validity of the work permit or is it just a bust? TIA.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When a Non Imm B visa expires, the associated work permit also becomes invalidated. If the holder switches to a Tourist Visa, which prohibits employment, the work permit must be cancelled. It is possible to apply for a new Non Imm B visa while the work permit is still valid if the holder travels abroad with the necessary company documents.

if the work permit holder goes abroad with all the document of the company he can apply for a new Non Immigrant B visa. If the documents are not ready, and the holder of the work permit switch to a Tourist Visa for example which is employment prohibited the work permit is invalid and must be cancelled

people at risk means the foreigners at risk, not the school or employer.

It’s since the non imm b MULTI visa has stopped being an option (except directors/shareholders etc) in Malaysia down here in the south. It’s too expensive (and incorrect) for teachers to keep ‘bouncing’ every 90 days. It seems that we understand there immigration laws better than they do.

And that the foreign teacher get problems with the build up history of tourist visa than Non B visa followed by Tourist visa again and will be denied entry on suspicion of taking occupancy with not correct visa seems like not their problem. Foreigners enough lined up to do this job illegal.

It keeps amazing me. We love you to work for us and somehow when you start work it takes months to get the needed documents. And properly when you say i wait till I have the visa and work permit the love is over before you even finished your sentence.

@Robert ******
thank you for that Robert. They (both) have been waiting for their work permits for the school to arrive but unfortunately their non b’s have expired whilst waiting and they’re planning to switch to a tourist visa while they are waiting 😕 an unfortunate situation but it’s always best to be in possession of the facts. Thanks again 🙏
