TLDR : Answer Summary
Failing to report your stay in Thailand within the required 90-day period can result in a fine of 2000 baht the next time you visit an immigration office. However, it will not affect your ability to enter or leave the country, although it is advisable to report your stay 15 days before or 7 days after the due date to avoid any issues.

It won't affect you entering or leaving but could result in a 2,000 baht fine the next time you visit an immigration office

YES, you need to report that you are 90 days inside Thailand, starting with day of entry as day 1.

To make it more easy for foreigners, you can do the report in the window of 15 days prior until 7 days after.

It would not affect any of your returns. Worst case is a 2000 baht fine next time you need to report or run errands at immigration. You can do your report in person 15 days prior to due time to avoid this.
