Just applied in Taipei this morning. Was asked to return to get the result at 3p. Showed up early and was told I was approved around 2:30p. Back tomorrow at 4pm to pick it up. Line was really short today being that they were closed yesterday. In and out this morning in 30-40mins.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their experience of applying for a Thai visa at the Taipei consulate, receiving quick approval and discussing documentation requirements. They were asked about notarized documents, extra submissions, and proof of income, igniting a discussion on the need for a lease agreement or TM30 form for those applying from abroad. The exchange highlighted various approaches to documentation depending on individual circumstances, such as maintaining a foreign residence address versus using a local Thai address.

Hi, do you own your own business? What documents did they ask for around the proof of income?

You have to pay when submitting and there is no guarantee that it’s approved. If not approved for a mistake on the application or any reason you lose the money. In person they don’t make you pay till

It’s approved and it’s an actual sticker not the paper. I wanted the actual visa in my passport.

my consulate in Australia has been approving in about a week and I applied Friday morning so hopefully not too much longer. How come you didn't do yours at home?

Thanks for sharing, both of you.

My family has moved to Thailand for over two years now. Initially, I considered showing the TM30 and rental lease, but I decided to keep it simple. I just listed my home country address as the permanent address on the visa form and used a nearby Thai hotel as the Thai address to simplify things.

haha. I'll know about that in a few days when I go to Taipei. Yet to apply. 😅 It'll likely be one or the weekdays next week.

May I know what the lease agreement (for rentals in Thailand) and TM30 are used for, instead of using an address from your home country?

My family and I have been living in Thailand for the past two years with an active rental lease, but we decided to use our “permanent address” from our home country since our tax documents and business profile are all set up there. Will that cause any issues? Honestly, we do live in Thailand and plan to stay long-term with the DTV visa (applying next week).

I’m curious—and wondering if we should also present the TM30 and our lease agreement in Thailand for the application? Thank you so much for your insight!

It helped me I think but not sure. It’s long term lease and showed I’ve been paying and staying there and been supporting myself from income outside of Thailand. It also on the application ask where you will stay in Thailand hotel lease etc. At least my application for Taipei did. Not sure about electronic.

Isn't the idea that you're actually not in Thailand since you have to apply from outside the country? So, my assumption would be, no one cares about lease or TM30, no? I might be wrong, just from what I understand.

I won't show a lease or TM30 since I'm not in Thailand. 🙂

That's fine. no lease or TM30 required for that though. 🙂 If I book a week in a hotel, I don't get a lease and they don't need to file a TM30.

You might get both, sure. But there are reasons you might not.

I, for example, won't provide a lease or TM30 because I'll book an AirBNB for the first 3-4 weeks.

do what you want. I live here and have condo so I used that at my Thai address and my parents address for us permanent. I just stated that items I submitted when I applied. I

Oh totally. You can do that. 🙂 I've just stated that it's not necessary in case someone else reads through those DTV threads and is wondering if it's necessary. Any kind of proof of address will work, inside or outside Thailand. 🙂

Most people probably don't live inside Thailand yet, hence the application for a visa. 🙂

I’m not a resident. I’m US citizen but they take applications from most countries. They just look for and need to see the Taiwan Visa Stamp.
