i have this question....if me and my wife (italians over 50 years old) come in Thailand with Non Immigrant O visa 3 months validity... what documents do we need (before the visa expires) to obtain the annual visa extension? moreover every year for the annual renewal are the required documents always the same? Is 800,000 Thb in total enough on a bank account in the name of both or must it be two current accounts with 800k thb on each current account?

thank you in advance for your help

TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend your NON-O visa in Thailand, you and your wife will need to meet specific requirements, which may vary by immigration office. Generally, you will require individual bank accounts with at least 800,000 THB in each, unless you qualify under income statements from your embassy, in which case your income can contribute to the total. For the annual renewal, while some documents may stay the same, changes can occur annually, so it's best to check with your local immigration office for the latest requirements.

you can do that if you apply for the OA visa in your country but keep in mind the insurance requirements if you want the type O inside Thailand you must get the type O for your trailing wife at a nearby Thai embassy we are looking for the Thai embassy close by to accomplish this if I find I will post here.

:

Concerning the 800k฿ for year extension, SHOULD you go for the individual non imm. O, you both have to have 800k฿ in individual bank accounts. So two separate. When having a joint account it must be double, so 1,6 million. But....if you have an income of more than 65k฿ a month each, you still can get an affidavit (income statement) from your embassy. Also a combination method is possible. So money bank account plus 'year income' together, must be over 800k฿ each. And take care the money must be in the account 2 months before your year extension request.

Best to drop into immigration and ask exactly what they require. Don't usually need to wait long to ask a question and it seems not all offices ask for exactly the same things.

the immigration office in that province are very particular and have a lot of their own rules compared to the rest of the country. Any advice you get may not mean much and you'll need to deal with them for questions as much as possible.

good advice and it's exactly what I said. Seems crazy, but that's the way it is...

Theoretically it's possible for one of you to get a 1 year extension for retirement, and then the other one gets a trailing spouse extension based on the other. Some offices will allow it and some won't if both are over 50. Again you'd need to ask whichever immigration office is local to where you'll be living. This would involve the other spouse having to travel to a neighboring country to apply for a new non-O before being able to get the longer extension.

(The last option in this chart)

but after the first year Can we renew the visa non O every year in the same way? or should we request the non-OA? this is important because with non O we can have a type of insurance and don't check nobody, with OA the immigration office check the medical insurance , right ?
Brandon ************
@Alessandro ******
I addressed that in my other comment.

O does not require insurance ever, OA requires insurance to get it and if you extend from OA to O, you have to keep that same insurance forever as long as you continue to extend that O.

ok understand non O visa don't requires insurance, but my question is... can we renew the non O visa every year for 12 months ?
Brandon ************
@Alessandro ******
There's no such thing as a renewal. You can get another extension after a year, forever, as long as you meet the requirements. It's a brand new application for a brand new extension. Nothing renewal.

ah ok, but for example (sure with the requirements ok) first year... 3 months non O visa in my country...after receive another 9 months extension in immigration office in Pattaya... (no insurance required)... after this first 12 months with the same requirements in immigration office give me a new non O visa for 12 months (every year forever) or give me a 3 months non O visa and after i must make the extension for 9 months (every year) , sorry for this question but this is the first time for us, and sorry for my bad english :-)
Brandon ************
@Alessandro ******
Your first extension will be 1 year, not 9 months. And then each extension after that will be a year. Extensions are for 1 year, visas are for 3 months. You get an extension from a visa. Once you are on extensions unless you leave without a re-entry permit or leave and let your extension expire, you'll continue on 1 year extensions.

something to bear in mind if you're going to try for an extension on a trailing spouse is that the first extension based on a Non-O visa must be for the reason the visa was issued so if both of you have visas issued for retirement that will be the extension you can apply for

yes visa for retirement for me and my wife

Here's a general guideline, but each office has their own requirements so you're best off going to the office you will be using each year beforehand and asking for an updated list of requirements.

If you both plan on getting your own retirement extensions then you'll both need your own account in your name only, with the required amount in the account. The requirements should be similar year to year but regulations changes and offices change their policies, which is why you should go ask for an updated list each year.
