Hello,

Im going to stay in Thailand for 5 months.

The non-immigrant visa "O" will be issued for a one-time entry and a stay of up to 90 days. An extension of residence can be applied for at the immigration office on site in Thailand, provided.

What notes/ papers (requisites) do I have to submit to the immigration office to renew my visa?

What is this procedure called? Renew your visa or convert your visa?

Like to say thanks in advance.

Hallo,

TLDR : Answer Summary
The procedure to extend your Non-Immigrant Visa "O" is called an "extension of stay." To know the specific documents required, it is advisable to visit the local immigration office and request their requirements, as they can vary by location. Some community members suggest alternative options like obtaining a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa, which allows for longer stays with easier extensions.

If arriving on a 60 days visa exempt and then extend the stay another 30 days at immigration, you'll have 90 days. One border run to a neighbouring country will give another 60 days. That's a total of 150 days. This is an option without any visa-application back home and just one visit to immigration in Thailand. It's doable.

best to use a border run agency to guarentee re-entry if maxing out the first Visa Exempt entry

Yes,that's what I would do.

It would be much easier for you to get a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa. It allows tourists to enter Thailand multiple times within a 6-month period, primarily for tourism, leisure, or medical visits. Each entry allows a stay of up to 60 days, with the option to extend the stay for an additional 30 days at an immigration office in Thailand. So after 90 days you could leave Thailand to a neighbouring country for a day, then you would get stamped in for another 60+30 days, which covers your 5 months.

It's called an extension of stay. But you don't say what type of non-O you will have so it's impossible to advise what paperwork might be required. You'll need to go to your immigration office and ask them for a handout of their requirements because each immigration office is different.
