Iโ€™m planning to come back to come back to Thailand in September, my retirement visa has expired and I intend to enter on a tourist visa. My question is does anyone know the procedure to convert to an 90 day o visa at immigration. TIA.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To convert your tourist visa to a 90-day Non-O visa in Thailand, you should first obtain a tourist visa for 60 days upon entering the country. During this 60-day period, gather necessary documentation such as a bank letter and copies of required documents. After preparing your paperwork, visit your local immigration office to apply for the 90-day Non-O visa, which costs 2000 baht. This application will be under review for approximately 15 to 21 days. Once approved, your new Non-O visa will be stamped, and you can later apply for a year extension 30 days before the new visa expires.

PAY attention to the wording on the how many days you need left on your current stamp to apply for the in coutnry Non-O, they posted it as 15 working days and that means a minimum of 21 days or more left on your visa exempt entry or tourist visa entry OR an extension from one of those

Why not apply for 3 month Non O. In the UK you can do it all online and get it in a couple of days.

I believe it starts when you receive the visa in the Uk, I will be out of the country for a while and would like to apply a month or more early.

you show up on a tourist visa <that you buy from a thai consulate in your country before you come here, get stamped in for 60 days, during that time you get the documentation together (bank letter, copies, etc) and go to your immigration office and apply for a 90 day Non-O visa for 2000baht.

It will go under review between 15 and 21 days (depending on the office) then you go back and get the new Non-O and 90 day stamped inked in.

After that you wait until you have 30 days or less left on that stamp and go back and apply for a year extension for 1900baht
