What documents and processes are needed to extend a visa exemption in Thailand, and what is the role of the TM30 and passport photo size?

Hi all, we're looking to extend our visa exemption (received on arrival) by 30 days. Going to go to the Krabi immigration office tomorrow and understand we need the below documents:

1. Passport

2. a copy of your data page

3. a copy of your most recent stamp (copy of visa as well, if we had one).

4. a copy of your departure card

5. A TM30, filed in the immigration office.

6. The forms (provided at the immigration office but we have also printed a TM7 form)

7. 1x passport picture

8. 1,900 THB.

My main question is regarding the TM30- Does our hotel need to fill something in before we go for the TM30?

And then also what passport picture sizes are accepted? I've read different answers. I have 35mm x 45mm which I used for my UK passport but the form says 4cm x 6cm).

Finally, can our reason for extension just be tourism or? What kind of answers are accepted?

We have all other documents ready.

TIA x

TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend a visa exemption in Thailand by 30 days, you'll need several documents including your passport, copies of your passport's data page, recent stamp, departure card, a TM30 filed by your hotel, a TM7 form, a passport photo, and 1,900 THB. The TM30 should typically be filled out by your hotel, and it's advisable to ask for confirmation of this. In Krabi, immigration staff are reported to be helpful and may assist in processing your paperwork. As for the size of the passport photo, both 35mm x 45mm and 4cm x 6cm are accepted, but it's best to confirm with the immigration office. You can state tourism as your reason for extending the visa.

Tm30 should be done by the hotel. Ask them for the confirmation

Officers in Krabi are very friendly and helpful.

You don't need a TM30 in Krabi when applying for the tourist extension, they will fill in the necessary forms for you in their computer,no need at all to bring a TM 7 form.

Tell them that you want a,tourist extension, hand over your copies, your picture will be accepted as well, sign the forms which they print out for you,pay 1900 THB cash and leave with your extended visa.

I did it myself in Krabi a few weeks ago and it's really easy. No need to stress yourself, they will even do the copies for you for an extra small fee...

. Me too. I couldn't be bothered traipsing out to immigration in Bangkok and possibly waiting two hours to carry out a 5-minute task when it can be done online in about one minute

Photos i have used all sizes they glue it to the paperwork and put in a file.
