Hi all, i’m currently on the 30 day tourist visa exempt and i’m looking to extend it for another 30 days at either the Chiang Rai or Phayao immigration office. Would appreciate help with 3 questions:
1. Will the extension start from the day i apply or from the day my original 30 days end?
2. What documents beside my passport and passport size photos are necessary?
3. Is the tm30 form needed? And if so how do i get it? I’m staying with a local thai friend in their apartment.
Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend your 30-day tourist visa exempt in Thailand, the extension will commence from the day you apply, not the day your original 30 days expire. Required documents typically include your passport and passport-size photos; some immigration offices may have additional requirements. The TM30 form is necessary, which must be filed by your host (the Thai friend you're staying with), but you can check if it's already on record at the immigration office.
If there is no current TM30 on file they will ask for one. If it is on file they might ask to see it, but not always. They can also ask to see your paid for flight, or other mode , out of Thailand within that 30 day extension.
thanks for replying. im residing in chiang rai province, so i only can go to chiangrai immigration office at mae sai right? do you know if they require the tm30?
try to check into a cheap price hotel but make sure they have the Tm30 report system then the next day you can go extend your visa. This is what I did last month but in Bangkok
Cole Man sorry I misread Chiang Rai as Chiang Mai. I'm not sure where the immigration office is in Chiang Rai but Google should be able to find it easily. No clue on their requirements.
