Hi Everyone,

Hoping to get some help on something that may be incredibly obvious. First timer here.

British citizen in Chiang Mai, wanting to extend my 30 day visa exemption. Please could I have any advice on what documentation I would need and whether this is even something that is done?

Looking for something more long term in future, considering 60 day tourist visa and 30 day extention next time but not sure if there may be an easier option for me? I'm not working and under 50 so a bit stuck!

Lots of conflicting info on google as there always seems to be when it comes to visa advice!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A British citizen in Chiang Mai is seeking advice on extending a 30-day visa exemption. Key documentation mentioned includes: 2 passport photos, photocopies of the passport info page and entry stamp, the TM6 form, and a filled-out extension form from the immigration office, along with a fee of 1,900 Baht. For long-term options, a Thai Elite Visa is suggested for individuals under 50 who are not working.

Only long term solution for being under 50 years of age, not working and to enjoy your time inside Thailand is the Thai Elite Visa.

David Broadfoot I did not assume anything by just commenting the only possible visa for those who are under 50 years and to enjoy their time inside Thailand is the Thai Elite visa. There are indeed other options, having a Thai Child, being married to a Thai citizen, ( I assumed she does not have half Thai Children or is married to a Thai) study inside Thailand, work or even work as volunteer, or invest 10M Thb in an project with guidance of the BOI, but these options means you have to invest time. I should have mention them to be correct.

David Broadfoot I don't know the financial situation of the OP and if people marry just to become a visa to stay inside Thailand it is plain stupidity.
