Hey guys, family and I are heading into Patong tomorrow to get a 30 day extension for our visa exemption. Is there anything in particular we need other than passports ? Any tips (first timers lol)

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is inquiring about the requirements for a 30-day visa extension in Patong, Thailand. The comments reveal mixed experiences: while some confirm that Patong offers 30-day extensions, others suggest going to Phuket Town for a smoother process. Necessary documents include a passport, a completed TM7 form, copies of the passport data page and entry stamp, a passport photo, the TM30 form (generally not required in Phuket for short-term extensions), and payment of 1,900 baht. Tips were given about photo and photocopy services close to the immigration office, and a positive experience was shared regarding the ease of the process.

Did this last week… went to Phuket town immigration with just my passport. Filled out the forms while I was there, did the photocopies and passport photo at Immigration. Paid the 1,900 in cash and got the passport back with my 30 day stamp in about 1 hour. Didn’t need to take a TM30 or any proof of where I was staying.

Single photo. No requirement for a TM30 in Phuket for a short term extension. There is in other offices around the country but not any of the 3 immigration offices in Phuket.

Passport data page. Last entry stamp. Visa copy if you had one and a filled out TM7

can you get passport photos taken there ? Or need to get prior ?

@Rikki *****
there used to be a little shop directly next to the office that did photos and copies - although that was pre covid. I haven’t been there for years so I can’t confirm if it’s still the same.

I didn't see it when I was there 2 weeks ago. Best to get them done first and photocopy your passport AND the stamp in your passport which you would have received on arrival into Thailand.

Patong immigration do 30 days extensions. Quicker than phuket town, and immigration officer are super friendly 😀 You will need 1 photo, 1 passport copy, 1 copy of your last stamp, tm30 😀

Pretty sure Patong don’t do 30 day extensions anymore. They were only doing 7 day extensions last time I tried. I had to go to Phuket Town immigration.

You will need your TM30 from your hotel or landlord, just ask them and they should know. You will need to make some photocopies but that can be done at the immigration centre, it’s located at the back. Copy people know what you need to copy, costs a few pennies/baht. The forms you need to fill are supplied at reception of immigration. They close for lunch between 12:00-1:00. Either go early, when they open or go at 1:00.

they do and you don't need tm 30 🙄

Patong do 30 day extensions for exempt or tourist visas. There is no requirement for a TM30.

I extended my tourist visa last month in Patong. 30 days. “Only” 2000 baht asked. And they do all the copy stuff for you.
Karim ***************
@Stuart ********
no tm30 required for a 30 day extension??? And you’re sure Patong are doing them again, because they didn’t for me. It was last year, same sort of time I last attempted. I know you know your stuff… But are you sure sure or has someone hacked your Fb account? 😅
Stuart *********
@Karim **************
Phuket Town, Patong and Blue Tree do not require a TM30 for a short term extension. I don’t think I’ve been hacked 😀
Karim ***************
@Stuart ********
but I’m right in saying, they weren’t doing them this time last year? If anyone knows, it you lol. And if I’m still talking to Stuart’s hacker, you’re playing the role well 🤣

@Karim **************
I’d love to see the stamps in your passport. However completely understand if you don’t want to post.

@Stuart ********
just had a thought…

Was it still covid extensions, they were doing, in April last year? Perhaps they weren’t doing those at Patong. What I can say as a definite, they were definitely only doing 7 day extensions at the time.
Stuart *********
@Karim **************
covid extensions were only done in Phuket Town. Patong or Blue Tree couldn’t do those.

@Karim **************
I don’t work there so I can’t confirm that they weren’t giving them out at any point. I certainly can’t see why they wouldn’t. That’s one of their main roles. Short term extensions, TM30 filings, 90 day reports,

If you were only given a 7 day extension (it’s not an extension it’s a denial of an extension) then that’s either because your passport doesn’t qualify for 30 day extensions or you’d already had one off the current entry.

@Stuart ********
I had a qualifying passport. They were definitely only doing 7 day extensions at the time. I had got them there previously, so I was surprised when they said they couldn’t do them. It was just before Songkran, memory just clicked.

that has saved us a trip for no reason !

So what happens if we are staying at different locations during the extra 30 days ? Do I need a TM 30 from all the hotels/accomodation ?
Karim ***************
@Rikki *****
wish someone had told me lol. Your current hotels TM30 is all you need. A TM30 is a form your hotel/landlord needs to submit to immigration within 24 hours of your arrival. You could book into anywhere for 1 night and get the tm30… Just ask your current hotel

@Karim **************
haha yes ! Knowing stuff like that in advance takes away so much messing around, so thank you !

Epic I will get that before we go !
Karim ***************
@Rikki *****
the only requirements regarding the tm30 is, it has to be in the same province as the immigration you go to. So you couldn’t use a tm30 for a hotel in Chiang mai, if you’re going to the Phuket immigration office. I made that mistake too and had to go twice 🤣 Enjoy Phuket, it’s a ball 👍
