Hello All ,
I entered Thailand on a 30 day exemption from Canada , on nov 20......... after 30 days , I went to Laos for my 60days visa , I just extended for 30 days at jomtien.
Visa is up on March 15 .
12 hours after arriving , a speeding car took out the motorbike taxi I was riding on . Both the driver and I suffered some extensive injuries .
My right leg broken in two places and surgery to insert a titanium plate , with screws , to put tit back together
I also required a second surgery last month,
to remove two herniated discs in my neck , also requiring titanium plate, screws and bone grafts to put me back together .
I am hoping to be walking by the time my via expires , but going home to 4 feet of snow , stairs , life alone and a truck I can’t drive with a buggered ankle,
Doctor gave me a letter saying I cannot work again until July ,
So , this Leaves me hoping to apply for another visa , and continue my recovery here and possibly be able to enjoy some time away from the frequent hospital/doctors visits .
As I see it , My options are either ,
A)Take my medical records and request a medical visa ,
B) try to apply for a course and make educational visa .
C) go out to a neighbouring country and come back on 30 day exemption.
D) create a company and start a business .
Any thoughts on the best way to proceed ?
I would like to stay for another 90 days , and see if I’m capable of returning to my previous line of work come July , if not , I think I’d like to stay...........
New at all of this and I know that every choice is at the discretion of the person to revives my file on the day of application ........
I would welcome any thoughts or insight .
Thanks in advance 🙏☺️
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, recovering from serious injuries sustained in an accident in Thailand, seeks advice on how to extend their visa, which expires on March 15. They are considering applying for a medical visa, an educational visa, or a tourist visa extension. Community members suggest applying for a medical extension based on their doctor's recommendation and submitting medical records to immigration, as this could allow them to stay longer.
