Hello, Admins and all.... So. I am coming up on the end of my 30 day extension on my 60-day METV. I just had a serious hand injury which required surgery, and been advised NOT to travel for at least a week. I have documentation and proof on all. What can I expect when I go to immigration here in Samui itomorrow?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is approaching the end of their 30-day extension on a 60-day METV due to a hand injury that required surgery and a doctor's advice against traveling for at least a week. They inquire about what to expect at the immigration office in Samui. Responses suggest that a doctor's medical certificate stating the travel restriction may allow for an extension of stay on medical grounds, typically for up to 90 days at a cost of 1,900 THB. However, concerns were raised regarding the difference between being advised not to travel and being unable to travel, and some participants noted that all extensions, including potential medical ones, are subject to the same fees.

Be aware that advised not to travel is totally different to unable to travel. I don't think you are going to get a medical extension because of a hand injury.

. Yes. Details not appropriate for public page. If you would like to know, feel free to PM. Cheers, and thanks as always.

happy if you got the medical extension, but many people read this page, and I would not want others to think that a medical extension is an easy option.

so did you get a medical extension of stay?

And in the hospital's, and now Surat Thani's immigration office's opinion, it means precisely that. We are all entitled to opinions, but some actually matter.

No, being bedridden, having a contagious disease, needing specialist treatment would make someone unable to travel, as would later stages of pregnancy. As I said, having an injured hand does not mean you are unable to travel (in my opinion).

But sure. Anyone not deceased is "able" to travel.

If you also have a medical statement from the doctor that you are not allowed to travel you will get an Extension of Stay based on medical reason for the time as mentioned by the doctor, or max 90 days, this depending on Immigration Office. Cost is the same 1.900 Thb.

I have ALREADY extended 30 days.

Even if Immigration would decide to give you more than 7 days (it depends on doctor statement and your objective health situation and I am afraid a problem to your hand will not considered extremely bad) you have to pay 1900 for any kind of extension
Marco *********
Its ok. After 30 day extension you can have a 7 day extension (officially extension deny).

In Samui you can buy a 7 day "extension deny", same price and procedure of your current 30 day extension

And here I am... an hour later. Still waiting.

nope, there's no free extension due to medical reasons, ALL extensions (even the 7 day extension denied stamp) cost 1900baht.

I was even in hospital and couldn’t go there so send a friend and had to pay 😞

All about money 😉
