TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses a user's challenge in obtaining proof of a round trip while applying for a Visa Exempt entry to Thailand, as they intend to extend their stay. The comments suggest various solutions, including obtaining a flexible return ticket, purchasing a cheap onward ticket, or utilizing specialized websites to find such tickets. Users emphasize that while some travelers have successfully entered with only a one-way ticket, it's safest to have evidence of onward travel due to airline enforcement policies.

cheap ticket may include Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, maybe HCMC. You can find cheap deals. Never mind time/destination - you wont be using it anyway. Just have to show evidence you have 'plans' to leave. Another option would be for a few bucks more you can upgrade your current flight that will allow for cheap rescheduling.

As stated it doesn’t need to be a return ticket. A cheap ticket out of Thailand or the onward ticket site mentioned above will suffice. You used to be able to use a really cheap bus ticket out too, but with borders closed that’s no longer an option.

I entered successfully on a one way ticket visa exempt. However it would appear that the airline at the point of departure are the governing factor. A round ticket to be safe is only a small cost addition, not much more than one way

You're going to need a return flight or onward travel. I doubt you would even be able to board the flight without either one of those if you're entering visa exempt.

Either get a return ticket which can be amended or get a cheap ticket out of Thailand.
