First of all, thanks to everyone in this group that helps all us newbies out, I know I really appreciate it.

My wife and I are I n Thailand on a 6 month METV, Canadian passport, been here about 6 weeks. Going to head to the immigration office in Phuket early next week to apply for 30 day extension.

Now, a question, what do I need when it comes to details of where we are staying? We will be renting a condo in Kata Beach area starting today. Do I need to do the TM30 online myself or does the person we’re renting from?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user with a 6-month METV in Thailand is seeking advice on the requirements for applying for a 30-day extension. They ask about the necessary details regarding their accommodation and whether they must handle the TM30 registration themselves or if their landlord will do it. Comments emphasize the importance of having the TM30 submitted and recommend letting the landlord handle the registration process at the Immigration Office.

You are a tourist in Thailand and good you know the rules about address registration. Ask your landlord to do all this at the Immigration Office, do not bother with downloading apps and play landlord yourself. If you like to do it all by yourself, just visit the Immigration Office in Phuket Town and they will help you out.

Phuket is one of the offices with a very strict interpretation of the rules. To get an extension you are supposed to need a TM30 lodged.

If your landlord regularly rents out your accomadation he may be registered online for TM30. In which case he can (and should) do it (get a screenshot from him of the completed registration). You can do it yourself, however, you will need several documents from the landlord to do so.
