TLDR : Answer Summary
For sending large amounts of money to Thailand, many users recommend using Wise (formerly TransferWise) due to its favorable exchange rates and lower fees compared to traditional bank wire transfers. Users have shared their experiences suggesting Wise is quick, efficient, and allows transfers up to significant amounts. Some have also mentioned alternatives like Remitly and Revolut, with Remitly noted for instant transfers, although users were divided on which service is ultimately better depending on the amount sent and associated fees. It's advised to compare fees and rates from local banks as well.

I regularly use revolut from Uk to my Thai bank, I’ve been doing so for the last 2 or 3 years, normally much better rates than mainstream banks

Depends on your bank fees for wire transfer and the amount. For my bank, break even point is about ฿150k. Below that wise is cheaper than wire transfer. YMMV.

Always send in your home currency. Thai banks will give you a better rate than your home country.

Wise it is! I believe you can send up to $60K US or ฿2 million

Remitly is way better wise. Look at the fees for wise. Remitly is instant. Debit card 2 dollar fee. Wise is over 20 dollars for debit and ACH 9 dollars with Wise. It's free to do the comparison online and wait when wise gives you a third party fee. That shit doesn't happen with remitly

You use Remitly to deposit large money into a Thai bank?

Whatever the majority tells here, check yourself the rates of your local banks. Wise usually offers the best exchange rates, but the fees are rising high with large amounts of money sent.

Example, Postbank Germany:

Postbank charges 0,8‰ of the amount sent, minimum 6 Euro and maximal 40 Euro. If you now send 1Mio USD, the 40,- EUR are peanuts. Additionally this bank charges a fixed fee of 25,- EUR.

Local banks often have such a low fixed fee but slightly worse exchange rates. Nobody here knows your bank and their fees, so all comments are out of the blue. There are websites, where you are able to compare, i.e. on WISE website:
