TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice for a friend who has overstayed his visa in Thailand by 87 days and has a Thai son due soon. The community provides various suggestions, emphasizing the urgency of leaving the country before reaching 90 days of overstay to avoid severe consequences such as fines and possible deportation. Recommendations include contacting an immigration agent for assistance, the importance of paying the overstay fine (20,000 baht), and the risks of approaching immigration offices. The conversation reflects a mixture of serious and humorous advice about dealing with visa overstays in Thailand.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
As usual, a mix of decent to awful advices. You have two options: 1) Your friend leave before the 90 days mark, pay the fine, and come back the next day via Laos land entry (to avoid problem). Then seek an agent to get him on Non-O. 1) Contact a reputable agent right now. Contrary to what some have said, an agent can help him with such overstay. I've even seen people on much longer overstay not get ban with agent help. Very little is not possible with a reputable agent.

Someone was recently arrested in Phuket International departures with 79 days overstay, so get to the airport and you'll be ok is no longer true. good luck.
Leave Thailand immediately. If they catch him his child will be in school when they meet

He'll have to pay 20k overstay fine. Find a border run company, tell them his history and see if they can get him out and back in on a fresh stamp.

He has exactly 3 days to get this sorted or will receive an automatic one year ban. You gotta get him to an agent or immigration in the next 72 hours, pay the 20k and get that visa reset. His situation is about to be critical

Needs to go to immigration and pay the fine... take it on nose
but if paying at the airport leaving he will pay the fine and possibly get a ‘ban’ also… best to spend some money on legal person to 1. Pay fine and 2. Exit strategy and 3. Be allowed to return to Thai.
What Brandon is saying is that borders are safer than an immigration office. At the border he is already leaving, so he pays the fine and keeps walking. At the immigration office what can they do? Sure he pays the fine, but what about him? He can't get an extension can he? There's only one avenue. He will be arrested and escorted to the airport and placed into IDC until he leaves. He will receive a ban and it will probably be five years.

Well if he is caught now he will not being seeing the birth of his child at the moment he is looking at a maximum 20,000 baht fine and 1 year ban but very soon at 90 day he will be almost guaranteed deported and 5 year ban it's not looking good for him Chokh di
Good lord no! Once you've married them they know they've got you! Best to stay single in Thailand. After all, why would you buy a book when you can join the library? 🤣
be fine just show up with a pair of elephant pants and pink crocs ,they will realise the person is harmless. In Pattaya people were being released from prison by using an agent, everything is possible here.
Right now it is just a bt20,000 fine, and a bad mark, but in three more days it will be that same fine, and a minimum of a 1 year ban from returning. If he is caught now he will be banned for 5 years, stay in detention until he pays the fine, and for the plane ticket to deport him.

He needs to leave the country IMMEDIATELY or he's going to be banned for at least 1 year if he's not caught by the police. If he's caught by the police it will be a 5 year ban. Overstay isn't a joke and they've been cracking down and sending police out to search for people on overstay for as little as one week recently.
The fact that he has a child on the way means nothing. He's breaking the law and about to be banned from Thailand.
