Hello all🏖️

Good morning, my friend's flight leaving bangkok is on 2nd of sep, but his visa will expire 2 days before that, should he extend the visa or just pay the over stay fee because its cheaper , he is worried that the officers might give him bad record if he dose so.

Any advises about this?

Thanks ~

Answer summary

A user is seeking advice regarding a friend's situation; the friend's visa in Thailand is set to expire two days before his flight. The friend is considering whether to extend the visa or pay the overstay fee, which is cheaper but may lead to an overstay stamp in the passport. One commenter warns that while the overstay fine is less, it could impact the friend's travel record.

You don’t mention what sort of visa your friend is on nor do you say if he has previously had it extended.

ok overstay is going to cost him 1000thb. An extension will cost 1900thb.

For the sake of keeping himself above board just visit immigration and apply

For the extension.

The overstay fine is cheaper than the extension fee, but he will get an overstay stamp in his passport.

But if the Police/Immigration catch him on overstay (and they are known to patrol the airports randomly checking) then it would be jail, big fine and ban on reentry into Thailand in the future.
