TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shares their experience of their Thai family member's two UK visitor visa applications being refused, citing the lack of family ties in Thailand, despite proven familial connections. They express frustration over the refusal process, which is carried out in Delhi, India, although applications are submitted in Bangkok. Comments from the community suggest thorough preparation of documentation, potentially reapplying in six months, or seeking an administrative review. Advice includes gathering evidence to demonstrate ties to Thailand, avoiding agents for future applications, and using personal experience to ensure robust applications.

Donā€™t use agents itā€™s easy to do yourself. Make sure you answer all questions correctly, Show you can keep her ( money wise ) show she has her own home and a job to go back too. I done it twice. And no problems at all. ( last one took 2 weeks. , em/ year Multi entry for my Thai gf to Uk )

They are now in the system for lying.

They will NEVER be issued a visa so save you're money and don't bother applying again

Western nations suck when you try to things the legal way. Unfortunately they would rather let illegal immigrants in and pay for their food and housing. Just look at my country, the USA.

it makes me sick after all the boat people coming hear with no paperwork and cost to us tax payers and yet her trip will not cost a penny to this goverment only me will pay for everything flights home food ect they just seem to have a problem with thai people but they let thousands of chinese students in this country

Advice from one agent is to not bother to apply for anything more than a 2 month stay (even though a 6 month visa is issued). If the applicant has zero travel history, it might also help by getting some immigration stamps from Hong Kong, Singapore or Vietnam. Not Laos though.

Yes exactly the same applied in Bangkok, paperwork sent to Delhi & refused & the reason didnā€™t make sense that was 5 years ago we havenā€™t bothered since then .

Same happened to me last year. Applied for tourist visa for Thai national to visit the UK. Gave all evidence, bank statements (hers and mine), gave them proof i have rented my condo here for 4 years, I have my own house and cars in the UK all paid for, provided proof my friend hss lived with me for 3 years in Thailand, has her own car and land and enough money to cover the trip. I even said I would cover alm costs and showed my bank statements proving i er 1 million UKP in my bank so no worries with money. Her application was reviewed in Delhi and declined siting they didn't believe we'd even met despite proof of traveling all over Thailand and Vietnam and living together for 3 years.šŸ˜³šŸ˜³šŸ˜³ No possible appeal but can reapply. I was livid but mainly due to it being processed in India where they let thier families in all the time.....šŸ¤¬šŸ¤¬šŸ¤¬

Okay let's be honest here. We know that 99.9% of the people that applies for a 6 month tourist visa in the UK are lying. Even the Brits don't want to live in the UK for 6 months. Bad food, bad weather, crazy inflation, no hotties, and I swear they don't even speak English in most parts of England. Luckily, I watch Peaky Binders so I am use to the working class English accents. I think the case officers did your friends a favor by not approving the visas.

Wait the agent was making the application in Bangkok or in Delhi?

I have thai friend who use an agent to go to france every year and her application was also refused 2 times..she has her own business and family in bangkok. It took 2 months but the 3rd time they finally approved the visa.
Nika ********
@Bob ********
thank you this good to know. So they outsource from Thailand to Delhi. Is that why the British Embassy in BKK sold the beautiful land to Central Embassy mall?
Bob *********
@Nika *******
regarding the land I have no idea :)

@Nika *******
I believe UK visa applications from Thailand are all processed in Delhi. Biometrics are done in Thailand. But where it is processed should not matter to the outcome. What matters is how the application is presented and the evidence that is uploaded. Pleased to hear your friend was successful in the end :)
Martin ******
As Bob says, in future, do the application yourself and provide every possible piece of evidence you can think of (i sent photos of pet chickens once) - there doesn't seem to be a penalty for providing too much info, but do add an index page so they can navigate your bundle of evidence easily.

If you have an MP in the UK, you can ask them to request a review.
Colin **********
The UK are looking evidence that the person will return back home: such as: they own a property, have a job and letter saying they will return, a local bank account with money in it, without this they will not be successful.

@Colin *********
yeah I was just gonna post a reply saying almost the same. They need a good job with their own salary monthly into a bank a/c in their name. Letter from employer saying they still have a job when they return. Family, children, husband, wife etc. As many reasons as possible for them to come back to Thailand after the UK trip.
Bob *********
Sorry to hear this I assume you are applying for a UK visitor visa. It will likely to be down to what evidence was uploaded and how the case was presented. I think you can apply again in 6 months. If I were you I would do the application myself and get any advice you can on what evidence is needed and which section to upload it into. Perhaps the agent has not done their job adequately.
Nigel *********
That sucks. I wonder if it could be a reason why Thai immigration is raising the bar towards westerners.
Bob **********
Better to apply in Thailand if she is Thai

@John *******
Why were they refused in Delhi ?
John ********
@Bob *********
because Delhi is the one that processes the visas for the region
