What are the visa options for a 14-year-old studying in Koh Phangan whose school can't provide a visa?

I am looking for some advice. I am living in Koh Phangan with my girlfriend and her 14 year old daughter. Both my girlfriend and I have an educational visa till June 21, which we can extend for another 3 months (this will be the 4th and last extension). Her daughter has a covid stamp till May 28, which she can extend with another 60 days (not sure if that will be feasible again after the next 60 days). She is going to an international school in Koh Phangan, but unfortunately this school cannot provide a visa for her study.

I am in the process to apply for a retirement visa, so will have a long term solution.

I am looking for some advice for my girlfriend and her daughter (she will turn 15 at June 1 this year). Do anyone have some suggestions and does anyone know if we can link her daughter to the visa of my girlfriend?

Many thanks in advance πŸ™‚

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on extending their educational visa and finding a visa solution for their girlfriend's 14-year-old daughter, who is studying at an international school in Koh Phangan that does not offer a visa. While the daughter has a COVID stamp expiring May 28 and can apply for a 60-day extension, there is uncertainty about future extensions. Suggestions include starting inquiries at the school or immigration office, considering a Non-O visa for the daughter connected to the mother's long-term visa, and applying for extensions before current permits expire.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.

Whether your girlfriend's daughter could get a Non-O visa based on being the child or a person here on a long stay visa is between the school where your g/f attends and the immigration office they use :/

The place to start asking is the school and/or the immigration office.

I personally have never seen someone on an ED visa extension based on study at a private language school be able to get "piggy back" visas/extensions for their family members. From a real university yes, but from a private school, nope, never seen it.

Thanks. as you said, I don't think we can link her daughter to our educational visa's.

Have you and your girlfriend extend their Ed Visa for added three months... If it's a legitimate Ed Visa at regular fees...

Or get a letter from the school that both have ended their school...

Take that to Thai immigration and apply for the COVID 60 day extension before their current permission to stay date expires but not later than Friday May 28th.

Fee for the COVID extension is 1,900 Thai baht....and likely much less than cost of the Ed Visa special fees you may be paying for the Ed Visa on the islands.

Hopefully the COVID extension may be extended one more time... Watch for it to be announced last days of May. No guarantee the COVID extensions will continue.

I am surprised by what you say re the international school being unable to assist the child obtain an Ed Visa for study at their school. Something seems amiss.

Have the daughter get another COVID extension.. Apply before Friday May 28th.

As for your future in Thailand if you are age 50+ you can apply for the COVID extension if needed. Or begin the process of applying for the Non O as retired with your Thai immigration office.

Ask them for their list of requirements.

Hi James, we are able to extend our educational visa for another 3 months for 1900 bath, so normal price. I am already working on getting a retirement visa (with the right funding etc..).

We will get an new covid stamp for her daughter on May 28. I am more looking for longer term solutions for my girlfriend and her daughter.

Do you know if I would marry my girlfriend, she can stay on my retirement visa as well?
