Family Visa Questions-Weighing my options-US Citizens—

If I obtain an ED Language Visa, can my kids and husband qualify for a dependent visa while I’m here for a year?

Option 2 - If I enroll my kids in school, can my husband (Stepdad) get a Guardian Visa?

Option 3 - As a married couple, can 1 person get an ED visa and have their mate as a dependent or does both ppl need ED Visas?

I’ve researched for days..Thanks everyone for your input! 😀

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster inquires about visa options for their family while they stay in Thailand, considering an ED Language Visa. They explore the possibilities of their husband and children obtaining dependent or guardian visas based on various scenarios. Comments suggest that dependents may not qualify under an informal ED visa, discuss the legalities of guardianship regarding a stepfather, and recommend that each family member consider obtaining their own ED visa as an alternative. Additionally, discussions touch on the complexities of family dynamics in Thailand and financial independence.

I wouldn't settle on a school unless you have seen it in person. As for him, he'll have to get an ed visa. Also, I am not sure what your image is of Thailand, but it is known for breaking up marriages. I hope you know what you are doing moving here as a family.

you might be laughing now, but be prepared to play defense every second. I have seen men leave their spouse for these Thai girls that are younger, hotter, and they actually pretend to listen.

I know. I’ve been reading the stories… if he leaves me for Thai. That’s his choice. I don’t own him. Plus I’m the one with the 💰so I’ll be just fine..if that ever happened, it gives me the freedom to do as I please..not afraid of change at all

For number 2 this would only work if the kids had actually been adopted by him, as marriage does not automatically grant guardianship of step children.

1 and 3 won't work if you are planning on studying at an informal school (language school, muay thai, etc) as only university degree seeking ED visas qualify for dependants.
