How about steps neccessary to get a non o marriage visa without an agent. Can my Thai wife assist in the bank deposit procedure. And can I skip the deposit with a years worth of income statement greater than 40,000 baht per month. Lastly is there a printout at immigration with clear cut direction on how to complete all the necessary documents?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a Non-O marriage visa in Thailand without an agent, you should first visit your local immigration office for detailed handouts and specific instructions. Your Thai wife can assist with bank deposit procedures, but you must either maintain 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account or provide proof of monthly income exceeding 40,000 baht through statements from your embassy. While requirements may vary by immigration office, ensuring your marriage is recognized in Thailand and providing the marriage registry document are crucial steps.

Your marriage must be registered in Thailand. Immigration wants to see proof of your marriage, by showing them a freshly printed marriage registry document from the Amphoe office. It is called Kor Ror Song (Kor Ror 2)

You need to register your UA marriage in Thailand. This is a bit more involved then just saying your married ad producing a valid marriage certificate, it is a long cunersome process unto itself..

I think there is a lot of information on the Thai US embassy site from memory.

Where do you live. Immigration offices have different requirements.

Your only 2 options are to have the 400k baht in a thai bank seasoned. Or show proof on income deposited to a thai bank. They can ask for anywhere from 3 months to a whole year depending on the IO. The money will have to come from abroad if you don't currently work in Thailand

Proof of income deposited to a bank means nothing. It must be income verification from the embassy in order to convert to a non-O visa.

@Brandon ***********
that's not what the Chiang Mai immigration office told me. They would accept proof of 1 year of deposits from my US bank or direct deposits from my pension.

for the second year. Not to convert from a tourist to non-O.

@Brandon ***********
the US embassy doesn't issue a letter. A friend was able to do this is Pattaya with a years worth of statements from his thia bank account showing money coming in from abroad by ACH transfer

@Clint ********
you can do that for year 2. You cannot use monthly transfers to convert to the initial 90-day non-O visa or for the first 1-year extension.

i literally converted to a Non-O last month using the monthly deposit method. If you can not get income verification from the embassy which UK embassy do not provide now, then some immigration offices allow you to use bank statements, a contract confirming your income and sometimes they may ask for a letter of confirmation from your employer or wherever your income is from. I used bank statements from my UK bank, statements from my wives Thai bank showing the deposits and my contract. I have been sending over 100k a month though so maybe that helped too but you definitely can convert to Non-O without the 400k deposit
Brandon ************
Go to your immigration office and ask them for the handout for conversion to non-O based on marriage to Thai.

The only income statement they will accept is income verification from your embassy.

the first applications for both the initial 90 day , and then the one year extensions, require bt400,000 in a Thai bank account in your name only for at least two months before you apply. For the following years you can use the monthly deposits method as long as you have 12 continuous months of deposits of at least bt40,000 a month from an overseas source if you are not working in Thailand. Whenever you go to immigration concerning this type of visa extension always take your wife with you, or most offices will not help you.
John **********
@Kool ******
some offices will not allow the overseas income method at all for the Non-O based on marriage so need to check with the specific immigration office
Rob **********
@John *********
absolutely correct John, more and more offices will not except the income method unless you are actually working in Thailand, where we are in Cha-am Phetchaburi immigration will only except the banked money and I did my extension last month and for the first time they asked for a 12 month statement, for years they only required a 3 month statement.
Brandon ************
@William ************
Then you can't use income method. You must use banked money method.
