TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks to understand the process of obtaining a NON-O visa in Phuket without the assistance of an agent. Comments indicate that it is possible to apply independently if the applicant meets the required qualifications, such as being over 50, married to a Thai citizen, or having a half-Thai child. Detailed guidance on requirements can be found through the Phuket Immigration office and resources like the PIV Phuket page. Engaging with volunteers at the immigration office can provide additional support and information.

the biggest thing is making sure you have the 400,000₿ in a bank account before you go and apply. It's easiest if you go to the immigration office and ask them for a paper with the requirements that way you can gather everything they want and then return to apply. Your wife will need to be with you also.
