Hello!

Any fellow Singaporeans in this group?

I have some Visa questions :)

-I called the embassy yesterday and they told me that...

in order to qualify for a non B (working) visa, my minimum salary offered has to be at least 45,000baht/month.

How strict are they with this? anyone manage to get a visa with a lesser salary?

Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Singaporean expat inquiring about the salary requirements for a Non B (working) visa in Thailand learned that the minimum salary need is 45,000 baht/month, as confirmed by the embassy. Comments indicate strict enforcement of this requirement, contrasting with lower salary practices for teachers, which are exempt from minimum wage regulations. The process for obtaining a Non B visa typically involves securing a teaching contract, obtaining a Work Permit (WP3) from the school, and following through with a series of necessary applications and requirements.

Education positions (teachers) are exempt from the minimum wage requirements. Thai minimum wage varies by nationality but it does not apply to teachers. There is no minimum wage for teachers.

thank you Garrett!

Just to double check the process of getting a nonB

1. Getting a contract from the school

2. School to apply for a WP3 & also place my name on the Ed ministry approved list

3. To start application at my local embassy for NonB after #2 has been done

4. Apply for COE and arrange for ASQ.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, thank you so much for your help!

That sounds right. You'll need to book the ASQ and your flight before the embassy will issue the COE though.

I thought that that was the minimum wage for Singaporeans except for teachers.

Is there a minimum wage requirement for Singaporean Teachers?

@Mi***
No, there is no minimum wage for teachers. Thai minimum wage varies by nationality, but teaching positions are exempt from the minimum wage law.

I’m sorry I don’t know. Perhaps a Thailand teachers group on Facebook might give you more info.

Thank you so much guys!

I’m just shocked as I have seen so many ads for Teachers paying between 25,000-40,000baht. I am wondering how did they manage to get a visa!

@Mindy ******

Nope Darren is totally right and no way around it.

Except if your company declares they are paying you
*****
but then it gets messy with tax and social security as you have to pay in higher bracket.
Darren *******
That's the minimum salary requirements for someone from Singapore. For the UK, US, Australia, Europe it's 50k per month. It goes down to 25k for people from Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Burma.

No way around it.
