Hey everyone 🙂

I’m wondering if there’s a max amount of time you can be in Thailand on tourist visa. After 90 days do I need to leave for 180?

Also, with the new year does my tourist visa in Thailand restart if I’m out of the country?

I’m sure this has been asked before,if so could someone link the thread?

Thank you much!

TLDR : Answer Summary
This discussion addresses the duration and conditions associated with tourist visas in Thailand. Key points include that a typical tourist visa allows for 60 days, with a possible 30-day extension. Travelers need to consider border runs for additional stays and may encounter scrutiny from immigration if they overstay. Elite memberships can allow prolonged stays without frequent departures.

If you invest in an Elite membership (now called Privilege membership) which are tourist visas, you can stay up to 20 years without ever leaving.

Personal choice for sure, but so much less hassle than most other visas.

If you have had no other previous recent history there shouldn’t be any issues in doing a border bounce through a border run company. Google them for your area. That would get you a further 30 days which you can extend another 30 after that if you are from a visa exempt country. You may need to have 3 entry requirements ready if asked by border staff. The border run company will tell you what you need. Otherwise you could fly to nearby country and return but that is more expensive but good if you want a holiday elsewhere for a bit. Again it depends if you have had previous recent back to back history in Thailand.

Tourist Visa is 60 days which can be extended a further 30 days at an immigration office. That's what you get. You can leave, visit an embassy or consulate and repeat

No, but if you are here too long, Immigration will start asking questions. You can't live here long-term on tourist visas.
