TLDR : Answer Summary
You cannot obtain a re-entry permit at Suvarnabhumi Airport days before your flight. It is only possible to get one on the same day you are flying out for an international flight. Alternatively, you can acquire a re-entry permit from an Immigration Office, which remains valid until your admitted stay date.

Okay the answer is NO you cannot get a re-entry permit at the airports anymore unless you are flying out that day.

A few years ago before they moved the re-entry counter after security you could show up at the airport and buy one any time. Now you can only get it when you're flying out for an international flight.

this is right, i took a multiple reentry january this year, only after security. i have to ask the airline for a VIP pass as I was also on standby but should be around 45 mins before boarding. took 20 mins plus 10 mins or so at immigration. just in time when i reached the boarding gate.

I just mention it as alternative, you write you only have a short time because you're on a stand by ticket. At the airport you also pay 200 Thb service fee for the permit, the 400 Thb extra for a relax mode seems not to much I think.

IMHO - get at the airport - it only takes 20-30 minutes max, often much less.

If as you say you're on standby and will be running to the gate, its probably advisable to go to CW immigration (or your local immi office) before your departure date.
