What are the requirements to obtain a one-year B visa in Thailand instead of a multiple-entry B visa?

New here, just throwing this out there. I've been in Thailand awhile, and have had a 1 year Visa's with Work Permit in the past, and as now, a Multiple Entry B Visa with Work permit. It is almost time to get a new B Visa. I'm trying to get answers form Immagration, but no luck yet. My W/Permit is still valid.

Does anyone know what is required, or if possible to get a 1 year B Visa, instead of the Multiple Entry( so I don't have to do the exciting and not cheap "boarder run" every 90 days) And would I need to get a 3 month B visa first, as with the Multiple Entry in Penang? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks clarification on obtaining a one-year B Visa in Thailand, replacing their current Multiple Entry B Visa. They want to know if they need to apply for a three-month B Visa first and require guidance on the necessary paperwork since their Work Permit is still valid. Commenters provide insights suggesting that an application for a one-year extension is possible within a specified timeframe, but emphasize the need for thorough documentation and mention the potential challenges faced during the immigration process.

Also make sure your paperwork is perfect and you have the required tip ๐Ÿ˜‰ I recently renewed mine and 2 staff members and the checking and scrutiny from Imm HQ is immense, we had to change / correct documents that have been fine for years and still are with all other governments depts, things as minor as spelling mistake on TAT licence that has been same for 3 years now

Yep, seeing as you already hold a valid Non-Immigrant B visa you can apply for the yearly extension when you have 45 days or less left on ANY entry of it.

You need a whole lot more paperwork than you do to get a year-long, multi-entry Non-B from a thai consulate though.

You would file an application for a one year Extension of Stay based on a new 90 day B Visa or in the last 45 days of your last 90 day stay on the multi entry B Visa. This is done at the local immigration office. Your Work Permit would have to have 8 months left on it or get a new one. You would file a TM. 7 Extension of Stay Application with required documentation. Others will be along to provide more details.

@J*
, I do not believe that the work permit with 8 months left on it is a requirement for getting a yearly extension of stay inside the country.

It's a requirement at the thai consulate in Penang to get a year-long, multi-entry Non-B.

Appreciate that JD...If I may ask, do you know if I can apply with my current last 90 days of Multiple entry B, or I'd have to get new 90 Day B Visa first, then apply for the 1 year? Just trying to work out the timing for 8 months W/P validity... I presume that only applies for the 1 year B application.
