Is the one year Non-Immigrant B multiple entry visa still available in Penang?

Hi all. I have a question about one year non immigrant B mulitple entry visas.

I will be going to apply for one in Penange next month. This is my third or fourth one I have a work permit and have never had a problem before.

Now I am being told that they aren't granting 1 year visas (or are less likely to) and that I would be better off going for a 3 month visa.

Does anyone know anything about this? Is it just in Penang?

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read and respond.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks clarification on the availability of one-year Non-Immigrant B multiple entry visas in Penang, mentioning past experiences with obtaining such visas without issues. Recent advice suggests that fewer one-year visas are being granted, with a preference for shorter three-month visas instead. Comment responses indicate that while Penang still issues the one-year visa, new requirements may apply, including the need for a minimum of eight months of work permit validity and being a director/owner of the company.

If you're not a Director/owner and have the 8 months valid WP you get the Single entry non Immigrant B visa which gives you 90 days of stay. Alternative is to apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay based on working at your local Immigration Office and the multiple re-entry permit.

It must be valid when you apply, I do not know about time left.

Thanks Robert. Do you know if I need to have a certain amount of time left on my work permit or not?

Extension of Stay cost 1.900 Thb and you can apply from 30 days till the Admitted until date stamped in your passport. Best is not to wait till last day, just in case you missed a copy.

Guys last couple of questions guys: how much does this visa cost and do you need a certain amount of time left on your work permit (the immigration volunteer I spoke to today says that won't be an issue)

IF you apply for a yearly extension of stay you don't NEED to go on a visa run. You would apply for the extension at the immigration office, you would get a 30 day under consideration stamp and after that you'd go back and get the year extension inked into your passport. Then you wouldn't bounce out and back into the country every 90 days

By the way I truly appreciate this advice Robert!

So are you saying I can apply for the extension of stay from within the country before I go on a visa run?
Robert *******
Than you can apply from 30 days before the Admitted until date for the 1 year Extension of Stay. Penang is the only Thai Consulate that issue the 1 year Non Immigrant B visa for Directors/Owners of companies.

You wrote that you already have 3 or 4 Non Immigrant Visa already. Are you now in Thailand on a Non Immigrant B visa or on another visa?

And do you know is other ports have the same rules, would I, for example, be able to get a year visa in Laos or Singapore?

So this would mean I'd first need the 3 month visa and then apply for the one year extension of stay after that?

Penang still issue the 1 year Non Immigrant B visa, requirements are upgraded to Director/owner of company and work permit with minimum 8 months validity next to the usual papers.
