What are my options for obtaining a Non-B visa for employment in Thailand, and do I need to leave the country every 90 days?

Non-B visa (employment) question.

Currently in the US (LA Consulate jurisdiction). Have an offer for a job in Phuket. The employer is currently working on the work permit paperwork I'll need to submit through the e-visa portal.

On the LA Consulate website there is both a 90-day option ($80) and a 1 year option ($200).

My plan is to work high season for about 5 months.

My understanding is that near the 90 day mark I'll need to leave the country (she said go-to Malaysia) and re-apply for another 90 day visa. She made it sound like it's a one-day process. Does this sound correct?

She also said don't bother with the 1 year option as "they never get approved and it's a waste of money". Any thoughts here on why this option is more difficult?

If I could get the 1 year Non-B visa would that preclude me from having to leave the country at 90 days, or is the exit/entry still required on a 1 year Non-B visa also?

Just trying to understand the options.

Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user currently in the US has received a job offer in Phuket and is inquiring about the Non-B visa options, specifically the 90-day and 1-year durations. They seek clarification on whether they will need to leave Thailand every 90 days for a new visa and the approval difficulties associated with the 1-year Non-B visa. Comments suggest that while the consulate indicates a year/multi-entry option, the eVisa application only allows for a single entry Non-B visa, which means the user would need to leave the country before the initial 90 days expire to apply for another 90-day visa.

Yeah. You get the 90 day visa then as that comes to an end you head off to Kuala Lumpur for another 90 day non b visa. It's a minimum 2 day affair and you need an appointment.

If your job is seasonal ( eg dive instructor) and in somewhere like Phang Nga, then immigration won't approve a year long extension unless you're a manager.

On the consulate website they might show a year/multi Non-B for employment, BUT on the eVisa website you only get the single entry Non-B choice.

gotcha, thanks Tod. Haven't gotten into the e-visa site yet. Didn't want to start until I have all the paperwork.

Does the e-visa come endorsed with the employer's name?

@Lloyd *******
I have seen the employers name in remarks on eVisas and then again I've seen them blank too in the remarks field

Right, just thinking if endorsed, they may have a problem applying for another single Non-B for the same employer.
