Can I change my 3-month single entry B visa to a 1-year multi-entry business visa while in Thailand?

Hi all, I have a question about multi-entry 1-year business visa.

I'm currently staying on a single entry 3-months B visa (conducting business meetings) and I wonder if it can be extended/changed for a 1-year multi-entry visa?

And if so, what documents are required? I saw a couple of lists, but it would be good to know from your actual experience.

I have to travel around SEA and often stay in Thailand, but unfortunately my company doesn't have an office here, therefore I can't be employed in Thailand. On the other hands we have some major local clients who might help with invitation/documents. Maybe that will help to get the visa?

Many thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the possibility of converting a single-entry 3-month business visa into a 1-year multi-entry business visa while staying in Thailand. Comments suggest that while the user currently holds a visa, they should seek an extension of stay rather than a new visa. However, concerns are raised regarding the likelihood of obtaining an extension without a local office for their company. Instead, it may be necessary to apply for a multi-entry visa at a Thai consulate in another country, with supporting documents like a sponsor letter from local clients.

Tod is right. What you can ask from any of your major clients here is to write a sponsor letter stating the purpose of your business here and does it need you to stay longer than 90 days?

You HAVE a visa, you don't need another one, what you want is an extension of stay from the immigration office and then a re-entry permit from them too.

You are highly unlikely to get a yearly extension of stay INSIDE the country based on those reasons and on the fact your company has no office here.

That means you would need to go to a thai consulate in another country and purchase a year-long, multi-entry Non-B visa IF you could find one that would offer it for that reason.

Well that’s what I was thinking of, getting a year long multi-entry B outside of Thailand. I wonder if anyone did this, what were the requirements and where...
