Hi All

For someone wanting to volunteer in Thailand, is the below all that is required?

Can a husband/ wife be a dependant of the visa holder and thus also allowed the same duration in the Kingdom?

For a South African entering on exempt stamp, can this be obtained in Laos?

Many Thanks🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation clarifies that obtaining a Non-O visa for volunteering in Thailand requires more extensive documentation than initially thought. It's confirmed that both the volunteer and their dependants can stay for the same duration if included in the visa application. Additionally, a South African can obtain an exempt stamp in Laos, but it's advisable to verify specific documentation requirements with the relevant consulate.

definitely have the NGO you're volunteering for call the consulate you're going to try to get the Non-O visa from to check to see IF there is any documentation that's not listed on the website.

Last thing you want to do is get there and have something missing.

To be a volunteer in Thailand your need a Non Immigrant O visa based on being a volunteer and a work permit. Both documents you only can get with help of the volunteer organization. Contact the volunteer organization and they will provide all the documents for you.

Not sure if this is all as needed. Organization can call the Thai Embassy to make sure you got the correct documents.

After a search I found: a letter to the consul of that consulate with permission that you apply for this visa using their organization. Letter from organization that stating the duration or your stay, duties etc. And the registration form of this organization in Thailand.

for the work permit they can just visit the Ministry of labor at ask how to apply for a work permit for you. That information is in Thai and English so should be no problem for them.

, Thank you so much. I've been in contact with an NGO, but they only have Thai volunteers and are not too familiar with the expat volunteer process. Do yhey just need to give me a letter of invitation explaining the terms and conditions of my employment?

Do then take that along with their NGO registration and the above mentioned requirements to a Thai embassy perhaps in Laos.

Thanks

There is FAR more documentation required to get a 90 day single entry Non-O visa for volunteering.

Where did you get that information?
