Hey,

My mother in law currently needs to get out to Thailand to see my brother in law who has had a bad accident and is currently in hospital and has been for a week.

We are flying from the UK.

Can you please advise what we need to get out there?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
To travel to Thailand from the UK for a family emergency, your mother-in-law needs to apply for the Thai Pass online. UK citizens can enter Thailand without a visa for up to 30 days. It's important to book return flights and travel insurance, and reserve at least one night in a SHA++ hotel. Additionally, carry proof of vaccination and a travel insurance certificate. Some recent reports suggest potential mandatory measures upon arrival, such as testing and quarantine, so it’s advisable to check the latest updates from reliable sources. Lastly, a couple of RAT tests should be carried along for reassurance.

I’ve heard that they are saying you’ve tested positive when you arrive and then making you stay in hotel for a week and pay £1000? Is this true? Sorry to ask we just need someone out there asap. X

thank you very much. The motorbike accident happened in ko pangun but his injuries were too severe so he’s been transported to the mainland so its pretty far away. Thanks so much though xx

@Teyte-Rae ******
I don't think there is another option for tourist if you test positive, I think you woukd juat have to take the risk.
Amy *******************
@Teyte-Rae ******
just make sure your insurance covers it, and check if they cover a symptomatic cases too.

@Amy ******************
No insurers cover asymptomatic cases anyway tbh..

Return flights, insurance and book a one night stay in a SHA ++ hotel. Then apply for the Thai pass

Good luck. I hope he is okay
Tim *******
@Lindsey *********
not needed with test and go. It’s all booked for you in BKK
Lindsey **********
@Tim ******
my daughter flying into Phuket and the hotels are not offering the PCR with the test and go booking

They said we have to book separate
Tim *******
Sorry I did forget vaccination Certificates also. My bad….

and the hotel reservation (or some proof of a place to stay). I also wish him well.
Yvonne *********
@Ruth ******
they must be fully vaccinated to do the 1 night test and go
Ruth *******
@Yvonne ********
I’m not sure why you’re telling me that, not Tim, but yes. Excellent point. Vaccination also needs to be added as an assumption here.
Tim *******
@Ruth ******
yes as I said it has to be a SHA ++ hotel reservation that includes PCR test on arrival and transfer from the airport
Ruth *******
@Tim ******
sorry that I was not clearer
Tim *******
@Ruth ******
hmmm that’s not really needed. I arrived into BKK last Saturday and the immigration officer asked where I will be going after test and go and I told him Phuket. He didn’t ask for anything else.
Ruth *******
@Tim ******
you clearly didn’t see yesterday’s discussion. Maybe your officer didn’t ask, but that doesn’t mean none will. It IS a requirement and some do. When giving advice for someone who likely doesn’t want any hiccups, shouldn’t we give them the advice least likely to cause them? I wasn’t looking for a fight here. Oy!
Tim *******
@Ruth ******
really. Your not looking for a fight? Oh my……

Goodbye
Ruth *******
@Tim ******
I meant the stay after the SHA++ hotel
David *******
@Ruth ******
not required they only ask for thai pass, neg result and tm6 on arrival as everything is is done to get thai pass. By time she flies no need for neg result.
