TLDR : Answer Summary
The Royal Thai Embassy in London has announced new travel requirements for individuals traveling to Thailand, effective from March 21st. There are concerns regarding the necessity for travel insurance that specifically covers COVID-19, along with the requirements for medical certificates and potential quarantine for visitors from high-risk countries, including the UK.

Does anyone know if this also applies to UK citizens flying in from other countries. I fly into Thailand tomorrow from Vietnam and have not been in the UK for 6 months. Thank you !

It looks like this comes in on the 21st... once my girlfriend is awake I’ll ask her to translate the document.

its your passport that counts

Looks like 10 additional countries will be added to the high risk list: Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, UK, Japan, Norway, Sweden, Denmark & the US. Once enforced, they will have to show a medical certificate before boarding & then quarantined for 14 days.

Travel insurance with not less than
*****
0USD covid19 coverage. Good luck getting that.

So does the policy have to specify that it covers Coronavirus? That’s impossible.

Am I right in understanding that this is only required from the 21st?

That’s what it says, yes.

I have looked but I don’t think it’s possible to buy travel insurance in UK that covers Coronavirus now.

that’s not what it says in the Thai section of the photo. It says they have to get a ‘fit for travel’ certificate from a doctor and have it stamped at the Thai embassy before they travel. Not quite as difficult as the requirements for uk nationals, but still something they have to do. Also the Thai embassy said they will have staff at the airport to provide the stamps for a few days.

there are Thai people in the uk that need to travel home. They need flights as well.

basic they might as well cancel all flight to bangkok from the uk then ,no chance get a thumbs up 72 hours prior to your flight that you are virus free plus alot wont cover you for corona virus

I’ve got mine already but the latest uk FCO travel advice may well have invalidated it! Waiting to hear from them as we speak.

you’ve lost me there mate. This announcement is about flying TO Thailand.

If you want to know about flying the other way I would suggest that your airline, or the uk government website would be the places to find out about that.

What about UK citizens already here?

UK citizens already in Thailand wont be flying to Thailand. If you do leave and fly back, I assume you will need the same thing.
