I'm thinking of applying for the O-A nonimmigrant visa at the Thai embassy in my country. I have a question about the medical certificate required for this visa: is there a specific form the doctor must fill out, and does the certificate need to be legally translated into Thai? Thanks to anyone who can answer.
Answer summary
When applying for an O-A nonimmigrant visa at a Thai embassy, a specific medical certificate form is required, which is available in English. There is no need for this certificate to be legally translated into Thai or any other language, nor is there a need to translate documents from your native language to submit to the embassy.

No need to translate any native language documents to any Thai Embassy in your home country

THere is a medical form, and it's already in English. There is no need for translation.

If the link is not good, try this and you should be able to download the general form from MFA on the bottom of the site.

Is there a specific reason you want to be an OA ?

More common to get a

Non-O

And the Non-O has no insurance requirements

I simply don't meet the requirements for the DTV, but I do for the Non-O over 50s. I consider the Non-O-A option better for me because, being 60 years old, I intend to have health insurance anyway, I will return to my country of origin once a year so it doesn't bother me to obtain the documentation for the Non-O-A, and at the same time I have a year to open the bank account in Thailand for subsequent renewals.

you hit it on the money. If your old and have medical problems you may not find insurance which cancels out the OA. Most older foke do the Non O for this reason

I used OA for ten years and ditched it when they mandated health insurance. The main advantage for me was the freedom to go and leave Thailand whenever I wanted—or, in other words, freedom from Thai bureaucracy. Now I Have a DTV, and it offers the same advantage, and it's for five years. Even better than OA.

I believe you can leave and re-enter with a multiple re-entry permit on a non-O.

You are such a stupid person. To get an extension, one must be in Thailand during the renewal period. That restricts one's freedom to enter and exit Thailand at his whim. I have lost my extension twice because I was not in Thailand during the renewal period. I had to start over again. With DTV and O-A, there are no such restrictions. HOpe this will make it clear for you.

People post without thinking. Yes, one can, but to renew the extension one must be in Thailand, and that requires planning when somebody is entering and exiting at Thiland

There is still an individual assessment with regard to the length of stay you intend. A Non O-A works well for a couple of years with multiple entries, based solely on documenting three months of income and without placing funds in a Thai bank. For long-term residence or a retirement pathway in Thailand, however, it is a relatively weak foundation.
