When applying for a o visa in Australia, do you need police check and medical certificate
Answer summary
When applying for a Non-OA visa in Australia, you need to provide a police check and a medical certificate. However, for a Non-O visa, these requirements vary based on how and where you apply. If applying within Thailand, the Non-O visa does not require these documents, and it also allows for a less convoluted process. The conversation highlights the differing requirements based on visa types and application locations, emphasizing the importance of understanding specific visa requirements for expats.

If you apply at a Thai Embassy/Consulate then your annual visa is called Non-OA and you need all of that, whereas if applied in Thailand Non-O doesn’t require it and it’s an annual extension of Non-O 90-days visa that you can get in Australia with less requirements.
Colin Boyland thanks for your input, but that’s not what I said, read it again. You totally misunderstood it. “and it’s an annual extension of Non-O 90-days visa that you can get in Australia”. 12 month extension can’t be granted in Australia, only Thailand. 90-days Non-o can.
No, you mentioned applying from Australia, it's a NON-OA, then you talked about a Non-O applied for within Thailand.
One can apply for a Non-O from either the Canberra Embassy or the Sydney Consulate (only for Sydney residents). This doesn't require A Police check or Medical check/insurance. You also said you get an extension in Australia. That can only be obtained from Immigration Offices in Thailand. Maybe what you meant is different to what you wrote.
Noel Holman yea if you use an agent then you can even get all of that on a visa exemption stay within Thailand. Then you get both Non-O 90-days and 12 month extension together 15 months
