ORIGINAL POSTER

I’ve just left the Vientiane Thai embassy to apply for a single entry Non O based on marriage. They asked to see my ORIGINAL marriage certificate. Fortunately I had it on me but a guy I met in my hotel last night wasn’t so lucky and was having to arrange someone to bring it to him today. There is no mention on their website about requiring to see the original. And they also handed me back my bank statement so I assume they don’t need proof of funds 🤔

It is pretty common knowledge that they require the original marriage certificate (if you're married in thailand it's the one with the rose border) because they want to see if the stamp on it is real or not.

Vientiane (which ONLY issues 90 day single entry) and Savannakhet (which issues year-long, multi-entry) and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam require it and have for a while.
