TLDR : Answer Summary
Entering Thailand with a Non-O visa generally requires only a valid passport with at least 6 months of validity left. Travelers may also be expected to have some financial means, such as 20,000 Thai Baht in cash, although this is rarely checked. It's advisable for travelers on a Non-O visa to have a return flight or onward ticket and proof of accommodation. Since many requirements can vary based on the immigration officer, it's important to stay informed and check the latest government sources for any specific regulations.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
  • Join the Thai Visa Advice Facebook Group to ask your questions, and get advice from others.

this is the same with opening a bank account. a couple of banks of the same branch will turn you down for varied different reasons and then suddenly you will get a branch of the same back doing it like easy peasy. Nothing really seems to be a uniform standard. So always expect the unexpected

Having read all this - and similar posts over the years - there is one cardinal rule that should be posted in bold type at the top of this and other sites, namely: there are immigration rules and there are immigration officers, and rarely the twain do meet, as they say. 20k needed? Sometimes. Return ticket? Sometimes. Insurance? Sometimes. Lease agreement? Sometimes. Owners house book/ID? Sometimes. Dox written in black ink? Sometimes. Photo outside your accommodation? Sometimes. Map to Immigration? Sometimes. And so it will go on, to the end of time…

On a Non-O visa, you just need a place to stay and some money (20k THB). Actually unlikely that they will ask to see the money. If it is a single entry Non-O they might want to see a return ticket (or onward ticket). All Covid restrictions have been liftet.

You're supposed to have 20,000 Thai Baht in cash on you to enter Thailand, but they never check unless they don't like you and want a reason to prevent you from entering (such as if you had a number of visas back to back.)

The OP asked about a "non O" visa. The law (link posted above) says "non-immigrant visa" without further restriction.

I can’t believe some of the remarks made to someone when they ask a perfectly feasible question! I think the men here in Thailand are old and decrepit with no life or just plain bloody rude.. no wonder most of them are alone old and single.. go live instead of making unnecessary remarks to people’s posts !

If you come as a tourist you get 45 days and can extend 30 more, only need pasport.

If you come with a visa (O,OA, E, …..and so on) it’s different….so depends on what you want, and your age . Give some more information and you get specific answers

you can't make a blanket statement like this. There's a list of countries that can get 45 days but other countries cannot

no problem for entering on O visa, does she have the required money on the bank or prove of income? In Suvarnabhumi no problem just show pasport, must be valid for up to 6 months.

look at their profile before you make assumptions. So they seek out a FB group before going to the embassy web sight? Do you know how many idiots don't even know what they are talking about in this group? They think because they came to Thailand once they are an expert. She needs to do more research than just FB.

It kind of depends on which country you're coming from. If you're coming from the UK, United States, and Canada you just have to check in with immigration and get your passport stamped. Most all of the restrictions have been removed. 👍👍👍

Any where from just a passport to passport and visa. Which passport are you traveling with?

Assuming you are traveling on a Nigerian passport, you will need to apply for a visa from the Thai Consulate in Abuja. Further details here...

Honestly you will do much better to Google this and find a reputable source. I’m not shaming you for asking here as I’m sure some expat here will surely do bc that makes them feel big or something 🙄, but you’re going to likely get conflicting advice that’ll just waste your time. Just find a reputable government source online; the Thai government page or your home country’s travel page should have it. Take care and have a nice trip 🥳
