I wanted to apply for a non-O visa in Hanoi. But the requirements say "certified copy." What is that? Will a signed copy suffice?

Last year, I applied in Savannakhet, and there was no such requirement; copies of documents were sufficient.

What do you think?
Answer summary
The discussion revolves around the definition of 'certified copy' for a Non-O visa application in Hanoi, which differs from previous experiences in Savannakhet where only signed copies were required. Community members clarify that a signed copy of specific documents, such as a house book and ID from a spouse, is adequate. Additionally, there are discussions about the challenges faced by individuals trying to maintain residency status, the complications of long-term visas, and the implications of having a Thai child on visa status.

I was in Hanoi for Non O last month. A copy, signed by your wife is fine.

They are looking for a copy of your wife's housebook and ID both signed by her. I can't believe you are still going through this, I assume you didn't get in visa exempt a few weeks back?

you may think so but you have lived in Thailand for a long time by dodging around on various different entry options. It would be much easier for you if you just bit the bullet and get yourself a long term visa.

I'm always extending my non-o but I can only for 60 days. I can't extend for 1 year because of documents what I don't have.

Yes I would make it but it's very complicated, costly and time consume. So literally I can't do that.

I do know why you never extend your Non-O but that doesn't mean you shouldn't, you should. The 60 day visiting family extension is nothing to do with the Non-O, even people on visa exempt entries can get that.

a 60 day extension is a completely different thing from extending a Non-O visa as I'm sure you aware.

I do extension always for 60 days of course. But I'm dependent on the mother of my kid what I don't like. What if we will argue or separate?

And being as tourist is also cheaper.

@Ron *****
yes, but one of these days he's not going to get one. He's had numerous Non-O visas and never extended them which is, I suspect, why he's looking at trying a tourist visa or visa exempt.

Isn't that what he's doing, asking about Non O documents?

no its the amount of time you spend in Thailand that stops you being a tourist.

yes we are planning on end of may but I don't really know what to do. I'd like to enter this time as tourist but I really don't know if it will works even it will be correct reason this time.

It seems as if you have a Thai child you cannot be a tourist anymore 😁
