Planning on 2 trips this year with my Thai partner first to the UK 2nd to Australia Can I get 1 visa for my partner our do I have to apply twice for each trip

Despite Australia being part of the Commonwealth and ultimately having the King as the head of Government, the two countries, Australia and Great Britain have separate immigration laws that each require visas for entry to the respective country.

I am Australian I have taken my partner back there before and got stuck there for 10 months due to covid

I was just asking if it was possible on one visa as the 2 countries are linked

not sure where your thought process is coming from they are not linked in any way or fashion one is the uk and the other is Australia 2 totally seperate countries they do share visas status

Australia still a commonwealth country at moment , but yes lol , separate countries , commonwealth visa would be a good idea though ,. Would get to loads of places , no visa required , with British passport

I was thinking of flying to Aus then the UK and then returning back to Thailand

you would need a visa for every country you are going to enter depending on the passport. That's obvious. If you're just talking about a layover then you'd need to ask that.
