Today I got a 60-day tourist visa at the Thai consulate in Honolulu. Had called ahead and learned about their new policy of Proof of Funds (at least $700 in a US bank accnt). That plus copy of pict page in passport, 2 photos, copy of onward travel, & completed application which must show address of where I am staying on arrival in BKK. Oh, plus $40 US. Very swift, done in 15 minutes.

Joseph Graham You're right ... Fort Shafter Army base. Easy to get lost and end up at their gate instead of at Maid Brigade.

Yes, Miyabara-san retired. Next generation now provide visa services out of a small office connected to the Maid Birgade cleaning service (Miyabara family business). Located outside the city in an industrial zone, no public transport goes there. Can use Thai Royal Consulate website's map to navigate.Has no set hours, so need to call for an appointment several days in advance. 808 538-6397
