A quick question . Has anybody been asked to provide the evidence of 20k baht when doing the 60 day VISA at Vientiane Laos. And if you have 20k cash is this accepted?
Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the requirement to show 20,000 baht as proof of funds when applying for a 60-day visa at the Thai consulate in Vientiane, Laos. Comments indicated that as of the specified time, the consulate does not require proof of funds, onward travel, or hotel bookings. However, if proof is requested, it is noted that cash is acceptable at borders but not at consulates where bank statements are required instead.

at this time the thai consulate in Vientiane does NOT ask for ANY of the 3-proofz (proof of funds, proof of onward travel or proof of a hotel booking) and the land border at Nong Khai does not ask for proof of funds.
Like Biff said, IF you are asked for proof of funds at a thai consulate when you are getting your visa you show a bank account you CANNOT show cash.
AND
IF you are asked for proof of funds when entering the country you show cash you CANNOT show banked money.

Cash is what could be asked for at borders. Consulates usually ask for evidence of funds. Not cash.
