What are the requirements for extending a Non-OA visa in Thailand?

Hello question about Non-OA visa.

My boss got a 1 year Non-OA visa, but his passport was stamped only for 5 months because his insurance is about to expire.

What are the requirements for him to extend his stay in Thailand? When should he apply?

Thank you for answering.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Non-OA visa is generally valid for one year, but your boss's passport was only stamped for 5 months due to insurance expiration. To extend his stay, he should renew his insurance before the 'admitted to stay' date and check with the local immigration office for specific renewal requirements.

Seen one report where someone got the remaining days once they’d renewed their insurance. May be office specific for that though. They’d need to renew before their “admitted to stay” date. These are the renewal requirements for Phuket. Your local office may differ.

but only applicable in phuket. Every immigration office seems to make its own rules.

I spoke to an immigration officer on behalf of this lady a couple of weeks ago in the same situation, she had to go to the airport to alter the entry stamp once she had extended her insurance.

Spoke also with a friend of mine who is an immigration officer in Krabi and he explained in more detail, that immigration offices away from entry points (airports etc) cannot alter an entry stamp.

I believe the person did it at the airport rather than the office in town, and it was within a certain number of days of arrival.

Is his visa sticker itself still valid? The Non-OA visa STICKER is (NORMALLY) valid for one year

you can do it at an immigration office, but at airport as it means altering his entry stamp. At least thats how it works in Phuket.

Not that I am aware the lady who recently did this just took the document to airport immigration and they changed the stamp. This was within two weeks of entering, not sure if any time constraints. I just spoke to the officer for her.

IF his sticker is still valid, he can get a new insurance policy, and bounce out of Thailand and return, and he will be stamped in for no more then one year.
