What are the requirements for extending a NON-B visa in Thailand, and can it be done in Koh Samui?

Not sure if it's entirely visa related, if not, I'll have to find advice on the grumpy old men website ;-).

Last year I had my NON-B visa and Work Permit cancelled and extended for a year based on retirement by an agent in Koh Phangan. Now this year they asked for 35'000THB to extend my extension. They didn't want any certification of income, residence, etc... (he still has it from last year I was told) but they told me, it's not possible to do it in Koh Samui and they have to do it in Pattaya ๐Ÿค”

So my question, I filled out my TM7, TM8, TM47, I have bank letter and statement of my savings in my Thai bank account, I have medical check-up certificate and Thai health insurance certificate. The only thing I don't have is a Police Clearance from my home country as I have not lived there for 30 years.

If you do it by yourself and have done it in Koh Samui, a bit of guidance would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance and a happy, prosperous New Year to everyone.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on how to extend their NON-B visa after facing costs and requirements from an agent in Koh Phangan. They mention that the extension requires various documents but lack a Police Clearance from their home country due to long-term residence in Thailand. Additionally, they question whether it is feasible to handle the visa extension process themselves in Koh Samui, rather than going through Pattaya as suggested by the agent.

Contact of visit the Immigration Office of Koh Samui. Ask them the hand out with requirements, they are known of have some own requirements so it is hard to give you a list, unless people did the same. We can not say if the agency is to expensive or not, they ask a price, if okay you pay if not you go shopping for other agency or do it yourself but that means more legwork.

First of all, you might want to see if you can meet all requirement to get 1 year extension as over 50. Is it possible to go Samui immigrant office and get hand out list?

You don't need a police clearance OR a medical certificate to get a year extension of stay :/ You're being told b/s
Ellie *******
In Bangkok, I believe that is not required.

And That's why I mentioned you may want to get exact requirements list from immigration office...
Ellie *******
Are you sure you need police clearance certification from your home country for extension being over 50 at Samui?

My agent in Chiang Mai charges me about 12,500, which includes multi entry and 90 day reporting. I would find another agent.

@Ellie ******
yes. the op said his agent was charging too much, so I used what I pay for comparison purposes. I apologize if I tempted someone to save themselves a lot of time and bother and use an agent.

i think this group is for helping people to do their visa / extension by themselves and not to recommend to use agents inside of Thailand..
