Hi everyone, just an update on my extension of stay for over 50 visa on Samui using the combination of funds method.

Just putting it here as I completed it 2hrs ago and details may or may not be the same as other immigration offices.

Had to get 14 months of "international transfer statement" (pension) from the bank, along with a statement of funds held in my account.

They looked for the lowest transfer amount and multiplied that figure by 12.

It took a long time as opposed to having the full 800k in the bank, almost 6 days. They said they don't like using this method and prefer for the applicant to have the 800k in the account.

I said I'm not bringing money over while rate is so low, so want to do it this way, hence the delay I guess. Apart from that, it was all the normal paperwork, photos, home, medical etc.

No mention of insurance requirements, no mention of TM30.

As I said, only posting as information. ๐Ÿ‘

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user shares their experience of extending their stay under the over 50 visa in Koh Samui using the combination of funds method. They recount the necessity for obtaining a 14-month international transfer statement and the average monthly deposits were taken to meet financial requirements, rather than having the full 800,000 Thai Baht in the bank. The process was prolonged compared to simply maintaining the required amount, taking about 6 days. They reported no specific insurance requirements or mentions of TM30 but noted regular documentation like photos and medical certificates were still necessary.

John Stanners Some immigration offices do ask for a medical certificate. I.E. Siricha does but Jomtien/Pattaya does not. Yet both are under same Chonburi Immigration Colonel. TIT.

In Siricha I would visit nearby med clinic...200 Thai baht and Certificate in hand ๐Ÿ˜„

Koh Samui Immigration ask for a local made medical statement if you apply for the Extension of Stay based on being over 50 years of age. Most of the time the same medical assessment as for Scuba Diving, Driving license etc: Why? okay, sit there and wait, that is 200 Thb thanks, see you next year.

If you use the combination method

Would they take into account that you might get paid every 4 weeks(13 times per year) as I do?

Or would they still multiply it by 12?
Robert *******
They take the lowest foreign monthly deposit done in the last twelve months, multiply that amount times 12 and add the bank balance, total must be over 800.000 Thb.

Congrats

It is common to take the lowest monthly amount you moved in and use that for the whole 12 months :/

@Tod ********
then this will not be a problem, if they count total for month, as I never had total for each month less than required, thank you

@Vladimir *******
It is MONTHLY transfers, so even if you had 3 or 4 transfers during the month it's the total of those transfers.

They take the month with the least amount of transfer total and use it for all the months

@Vladimir *******
It seems so. I did it today in Koh Samui and that's exactly what they did.

Hmm, interesting, if I just test how the things work, transfer let's say $400 once, then transfer $3000 same month then, $3000 every month for a year, they will count $400? :(
